Boxing robot movie "Real Steel" won the domestic box office for the second straight weekend, edging a remake of 1980s dance classic "Footloose."
"Real Steel" brought in about 16.3 million dollars (USD) at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to studio estimates. The action movie stars Hugh Jackman as an aging boxer in a film that is part sports drama, part sci-fi in which robots have replaced human beings in the ring.
Checking at the No. 2 spot was "Footloose," a re-boot of the '80's iconic film, which brought in an estimated 16.1 million. The remake stars Julianne Hough and looks to recapture the spirit of the original film about teenage angst, an unpopular ban on music and dancing and falling in love.
Rounding out the top three was the horror movie "The Thing" which scared up just over 8.5 million.
Actor Zachary Quinto, known for portraying Spock in the 2009 blockbuster film "Star Trek," has publicly come out as a gay man. In an interview with New York Magazine published on Sunday (October 16), the actor talked about being gay and other issues that are important to him.
