British soul singer Adele leads the nominations for this year's American Music Awards.
The singer songwriter is up for four trophies, including favorite female artist and favorite adult contemporary artist.
Lady Gaga is not far behind with three noms - and will compete against Adele in the artist of the year category.
Rapper's Pitbull and Nikki Minaj announced the contenders and also snagged nominations themselves.
