Carlos Checa admitted that he was as surprised as anyone with his 1m 48.193s lap time that secured him his first ever WSB pole position. The Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider finished the session 0.3 seconds ahead of his closet rival Max Neukirchner and starts tomorrow's two races as favourite given his impressive pace on race rubber.
