A rare day in the UK - as beachgoers enjoy the October sunshine, in a country where even a midsummer swim can be chilly.
Temperatures Saturday reached 29.9 degrees Celsius, setting a new record high for this time of year.
And these people are taking full advantage of the heat wave at a beach in East Sussex.
The previous record was set in Cambridgeshire in 1985.
The hot weather is set to persist throughout the weekend.
Meteorologists said the summerlike heat would continue until early in the week, before it cools off Tuesday with a chance of showers.
