Dramatic footage broadcast by China's official news agency shows a restaurant boat in southwest China capsizing in a river swollen by heavy rains.
Eleven people were on board at the time but there were no casualties, though this man had to take refuge on a piece of floating debris as he waited to be rescued.
The three-storey boat was pushed downriver by a rapid current and then crashed into a stationary passenger ship before capsizing, and finally sinking.
State media said floods and landslides triggered by heavy rain have killed at least 70 people in eight provinces across China, with 32 still missing.
Nearly 40 rivers are in danger of breaching their banks.
Almost one million people have been forced to evacuate their homes.
