Vera Wang's colorful 'LSD trip'

With stars such as Beyonce in the front row, American designer Vera Wang showcased her Spring 2012 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
The designer famous for her bridal gowns, started the show fittingly by sending down featherlight layers of white in different lengths.
This look with a V-neck top paired with a sheer silk chiffon maxi skirt, captured the essence of the collection -- mixing separates in transparent fabrics with structured pieces.
Wang says that the collection is inspired by a fairy tale.

"My inspiration was 'Alice in Wonderland' and this sort of trip, of combining a child-like quality with sophistication."
White gave way to vivid colors such as yellow and hot pink, that seems to be the trend for the next season.
Charcoal gray had its moments too.
Wang also used a mix of bright prints, which was inspired by 18th-century wallpaper.

"The prints were taken from wallpaper from Marie-Antoinette's bedroom. And then we completely riffed on it, and sort of distorted it. It's sort of a beautiful LSD trip. That's what it's meant to be."
André Leon Talley an editor at large of Vogue was one of the first to review.
