Actors Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton were relieved to hit the red carpet Tuesday (September 06) night for the world premiere of the action film, "Warrior."
That's because the rising stars spent the better part of the past year "beating" each other in preparation for the with intense mixed martial arts film that included lots of Brazilian Jui Jitsu, kickboxing, wrestling and boxing training.
SOUNDBITE Actor Tom Hardy saying (English):
"These guys that do it for real have a very specific way that they trade blows, its like speaking a foreign language for me. I had to engage my body in a way that I never had done before. The hardest thing for me was to learn how to move my body in a way that was convincing."
Directed by Gavin O'Connor, "Warrior" tells the story of two estranged brothers facing the fight of a lifetime. Haunted by a tragic past, Marine Tommy Conlon (Hardy) returns home to enlist the help of his father (Nick Nolte) to train for a winner-takes-all event in mixed martial arts. A former wrestling prodigy, Tommy blazes a path toward the championship while his brother, Brendan (Edgerton), an ex-fighter-turned teacher, returns to the ring in a desperate bid to save his family from financial ruin. But when the two brothers finally confront each other inside the cage there is more at stake than just the winning of the belt.
The film also stars Nick Nolte and Jennifer Morrison.
"Warrior" opens on September 09.
