The Chinese Central Meteorological authority predicts extreme weather for the northern and southern regions of China. While a heat wave will persist in the south, the northern regions of China will expect the heavy rains to linger.
China's National Meteorological Center says rain will linger in northern China over the next two days while high temperatures persist in the south.
According to state-run Chinese media, heavy rains pelted areas of northern China on Sunday—including Gansu Province and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region—helping to ease the scorching heat.
Beijing was hit by a heavy downpour on Sunday night, dumping as much as 1.3 inches by Monday.
The weather forecast predicts heavy rain for different areas in northeast China, northern China, the Sichuan Basin, and the Shandong Peninsula. This also includes some regions along the Yellow River and Huaihe River.
While the north is pouring with rain, the south is experiencing a sizzling heat wave.
The temperature is expected to peak at 95 degrees Fahrenheit along some parts of the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers, and central Shaanxi Province.
In some parts of Chongqing, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces, the temperature is expected to top 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
