- European stock markets slipped in early trading Wednesday, extending their fall into a fourth straight session.

- Downgrade of Ireland’s status by Moody's Investors Service kept sovereign debt worries in focus, though stronger Chinese data helped limit the fall.

- Among early movers, KBC Group fell 3.8% after the group said it has asked European authorities to change its restructuring plan. French retailer Carrefour SA / fell 2.3% after a Brazilian bank withdrew funding support for its planned deal in Brazil and as the group also reported its second-quarter sales.
