Slow Poke were innovative to the point of infusing country and rock into jazz. Not to be confused with the sensational country-rock band Slowpoke from Ontario. Personnel were: David Tronzo (guitar, baritone guitar, dobro); Michael Blake (melodica, soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, hand claps); Tony Scherr (bass guitar); Kenny Wollesen (drums, percussion). “Redemption” was released on Intuition in 2000 and is now out of print.
