Indian Industry Needs to Save Energy | Global 3000

In India, many industrial companies are based in large-scale industrial parks, where clean energy and efficient use of resources barely play a role. But now that India's industrial development is gathering pace, companies are required to make more of an effort to reduce their energy costs.
India's GDP has risen considerably in recent years. But economic growth goes hand in hand with a rise in greenhouse gases. The industrial sector emits some 280 million tonnes of CO2 a year, making it the second worst climate offender in Asia after China. The country's industrial parks are now set to be brought into line with environmental standards - with more efficient energy usage, a switch to renewable resources and environmentally-friendly waste management systems.
