Anil Ambani Group's RCom grew to 100 million customers in just 5 years flat - Part 1
  • 13 years ago
This is footage from Reliance Communications' 2010 AGM, where company executives explain how Rcom grew to become one of the few telecom operators in the world to have over 100 million customers. Noteworthy facts are that Rcom operates both CDMA and GSM networks - including 2G, EDGE and 3G in GSM and both High Speed Data and EVDO in CDMA. They have India's largest Fibre optic cable network with over 200,000 route kilometres of cabling. They also operate the largest undersea cable network in the world.

In an astounding feat of engineering execution they did in 7 years what other Telcos did in 15+ years! The numbers are just mind-boggling - 24,000 towers worth of infrastructure covering almost all of India's 600,000 villages. Plus services that reach, as they say, all four screens - PC, Mobile, TV, and Cinema theatres.

Small wonder they claim with pride to be one of the largest, one of the youngest, one of the fastest growing telecom operators in the world.
