Although I posted another version before by the Savoy Hotel Orpheans (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9yn6w_savoy-hotel-orpheans-as-time-goes-b_music) I share this one today because of the very different atmosphere and style. The Columbians were a house band , the name of which refers to the homonymous record label. It existed in different (mostly anonymous) outfits throughout the 20s. In the second half of the decade it was usually led by Ben Selvin. In total several dozens of records dating from 1921 till 1929 were made under this denomination. However, in this 1931 outsider recording, the band actually performing is Fred Rich's orchestra. The excellent vocal is by Smith Ballew.
