EUGENE YSAYE AS YOU NEVER HEARD
The original record of this work, was made on Dec. 30th 1912 in the Columbia Studios (N.Y.) by an acoustical method. The sound, collected by a horn in front of which the artist was held, was transmitted directly on a rotating table supporting a hot wax matrix. The reading of the record was done on a gramophone with a metallic needle. On the re-recording that you will hear here, all the noises, frictions and imperfections of original record were filtered and eliminated by a digital process. In spite of a very weak band-width, we can realize the virtuosity and technicality of the extraordinary interpreter who was Eugène Ysaÿe. He is accompanied by Camille Decreus.
