Why owning a house is better than rented accommodation

There are very few people who can afford to own a house in Mumbai city. So, the only option left for them is to go beyond the actual city limits i.e. places like Virar, Karjat, Kalyan,etc. Housing is a basic need. Social welfare of the nation is dependent on housing. I would tell everyone that Whatever is the budget,a person should aim to own house even if it's far away from the main city. one should not solely depend on rental housing
