The world's largest monument to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, known as the Salt Lake Temple, has its home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The tallest point of the structure is a towering two hundred and ten feet, and as such it is the largest Mormon Temple in the world.

In 1847, Brigham Young, one of the Church's first prophets and presidents, chose the site for this immense church.

Construction of the exterior ended in 1892 when the capstone containing the figure of the Angel Moroni was finally put into place.

The golden statue commemorates this angel who is said to have been the keeper of the golden plates, the inspiration for the Book of Mormon.

Mormon symbolism and beliefs are well represented in the Temple's gorgeous architecture.
