A troubled young man in Ningbo City, eastern China was rescued during a suicide attempt, according to state media.

The 23-year-old man was attempting to jump from the top of a 13-storey hospital building, standing outside the roof's railings and holding on with only his hands

Rescue workers, firefighters and police officers were unsuccessfully trying to console and coax the emotional man out of jumping.

Just as he was about to let go, rescue workers used ropes, harnesses and their hands to grab him before hauling him back to safety.

After an ordeal lasting nearly two-hours, the young man was rescued by a group of workers.

State media said he had tried to kill himself after quarrelling with his girlfriend.
