On Thursday, some 28 captured Somali pirates were handed over to police in Mumbai, India. The group is set to undergo trial at a later date.

A large cache of arms, including a rocket launcher, live bullets, communication devices and binoculars were seized from the pirates.

The police then took the pirates to the police station for further investigation.

The vessel was caught off the southwestern coast of India's Lakshadweep Islands on Tuesday in the Arabian Sea.

According to Indian Navy, earlier on Sunday, a Thai fishing vessel that was being used as a mother-ship by the Somali pirates was captured.

Attacks have been growing exponentially since 2007, as young Somalis in small skiffs take to the water to seek their fortunes.
