Anne Hathaway has been confirmed as the latest actress to play Batman villain Catwoman in the upcoming film - the Dark Knight Rises.

The film will be director Christopher Nolan's third in his Batman trilogy. Christian Bale will again reprise the role of the Dark Knight and will face Hathaway's Catwoman.

Another enemy of Bruce Wayne's will also appear in the film. The character of Bane will be played by British actor Tom Hardy.

This will not be the first time that Hardy has been directed by Nolan, with the two working together on Inception last year.

It is not only Batman casting announcements that are worth noting, the 23rd James Bond film may also have a new villain rumoured to be played by Rachel Weisz.

However, amid rumours that Weisz is currently dating Bond actor Daniel Craig doubts have been cast over her potential involvement in the film, which is due to be released in November next year.
