BP - USA: US government sues BP for billions over Gulf oil spill The US Justice Department on Wednesday sued BP and eight other firms in an effort to recover billions of dollars spent on cleanup in the wake of the Gulf oil spill disaster as well as for damages based on their liability under the Oil Pollution Act.
