Simon Cowell has allegedly stepped in after rumours of a frenzy of backstage romping on The X Factor which prompted Louis Walsh to declare: "They are at it like rabbits."

The industry guru is reportedly worried that a series of backstage flings are putting the entire competition at risk.

However, Cowell's own act One Direction are among the most active of the contestants. Harry Styles is alleged to have conducted a secret affair with a backing singer from the show as well as romping with a fan in Simon's dressing room.

His bandmates Louie and Zain are also reported to be romancing ladies on set, with Zain allegedly dating Geneva Lane from evicted band Belle Amie.

Meanwhile Matt Cardle who is currently facing allegations of being a 'sex mad love rat' by his ex-girlfriend, is rumoured to be canoodling with a member of staff on the show.

Simon is said to have warned all of the contestants about romacing each other, fans or X Factor employees.

Tonight's X Factor elimination episode is widely rumoured to be a double eviction with Katie, Wagner and Paige the bookies' favourites to leave.
