La Quemadura (The Burn), de René Ballesteros
(65 min, France, 2009)

The mother left Chili to go to Venezuela 26 years ago, her two children did not see her again. She is missed; she disappeared through the silence of their father and the grand mother who raised them. The only physical trace of her is a library, filled with books from a publisher named « Quimantú », prohibited during Chilean military dictatorship. The children have grown up : the brother a film-maker, the daughter a librarian. They will try to understand, to retrieve, to fix, to give a body to the telephonic voice of their mother, to finish the spell of the family's phantom limb.
