Emma Stone talks about her new movie Easy A

Emma Stone is busy promoting her new film Easy A, with the publicity campaign kicking off on the red carpet of the Hollywood premiere.

The 21-year-old actress, who is the lead in the high school comedy, shared why she was interested in the role.

"I thought it was so clever and so original, and it's just - it's unbelievable that I'm even here right now, and that I even got to be a part of it. It's just really exciting."

The film takes themes raised in the classic novel "The Scarlet Letter" and places them in a modern context.

Penn Badgley also stars in the film. He plays Stone's love interest in the story.

"If I were to go to high school now, with the perspective that a 23-year-old has, at least the perspective that I have. I would be this grounded, sort of confident individual. But everybody's so vulnerable and vicious in high school. And, he's sees beyond it. And, he's an important kind of pillar for Olive because she's thrust into the rumour mill and is so overwhelmed by it. He's like her male counterpart."
