World 800 metres champion Caster Semenya has been named in the South Africa team for October's Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The competition is set to be her first major international test after almost a year out while gender tests were conducted.

The 19-year-old, who has won all three of her comeback races at fairly low-key meetings, claimed the 800m title at last year's World Championships in Berlin before she was subsequently banned.

South African Olympic Committee president Gideon Sam said: "I'm very happy to see the return of Caster Semenya to duty for South Africa.

"We have observed her progress closely since the IAAF cleared her to run and it's good to hear her say that she's focusing all her efforts on the Commonwealth.

"The fact that she's unbeaten in her three races thus far and has improved her time on each occasion is good news for our medal effort in New Delhi."
