Mirabai belonged to a high caste family. To see whether Mirabai was willing to take naam from a Guru belonging to a low caste, Kabir Sahib asked Ravidas ji to give naam to Mirabai as Guru Ravidas ji belonged to chamaar (leather worker) caste.
