Harry Harden (né David Stoljarovič), was born in 1901 in a Jewish family in Mogilev, Ukraine. In 1922 he started attending the Technical School in Prague, but did not complete his studies. In 1929 he formed and led his own dance band. In the summer of 1939, he was able to leave Prague for the USA thanks to the so-called "Jewish quota" system. In the 30s Harry Harden recorded over a 1000 sides for the Esta and Ultraphon companies, including about 50 German dance band recordings with German speaking Prague vocalists. He also made some recordings in Vienna. In the U.S., he put together a new orchestra. This brilliant record was waxed in 1936.
