The youngest climber to conquer Everest has spoken of how he rang his mum from the roof of the world.
Jordan Romero, 13, scaled the 8,500m mountain from the Tibetan side on Saturday.
He said he called his mother Leigh Anne Drake from the summit, saying: "Mom, it's your son calling from the top of the world."
The ascent has put the Californian schoolboy one step closer to reaching his goal of climbing the highest mountains on all seven continents.
He has already climbed five peaks including Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, and needs to climb only Vinson Massif, the highest peak in Antarctica, to hit his target.
The previous youngest person to summit Everest was 16-year-old Temba Tsheri Sherpa of Nepal.
