Climate change is also changing Germany’s showcase sector, machine construction. When German clients buy new machines, they are increasingly demanding energy-efficiency. After all, industry produces more than a third of Germany’s greenhouse gas emissions. So researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute are looking for ways to save energy.And they found lots of potential for savings in German machine construction. With more efficient production, Germany could reduce its CO2 emissions by 43 million tons a year.
