Set in the year 2017 in Los Angeles, Pookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waiter, has fallen under the spell of a mysterious cougar. He's also upset her enemies, the McGraths, a couple of milk-dealing junkies. To his disappointment, Pookie discovers both his sister and grandfather aren't on board with his new love interest. Disregarding all advice from friends and family, Pookie agrees to a first date with the cougar.
