Clash of the Titans - worth the remake?

The 1981 original is a classic, but modern Hollywood has got its hands on Clash of the Titans and given it a 3D makeover.

The film is being released across the UK, and its cast and crew will be hoping it is as successful as the original. It's a return to 3D for star Sam Worthington, although unlike Avatar this is simply a 3D conversion.

"It's the end of my trilogy," he said.

The 33-year-old added: "In the sense that Terminator's a young man who is born, and then Avatar as everyone knows, I played him as a nine-year-old kid who turns into a teenager and stands up to the bullies in the school yard and this is the teenager who is trying to figure out his place in the world, and he turns into a man."

The British-born Australian actor stars alongside former Bond girl Gemma Arterton.

With the advent of special effects, the reworking could have been amazing, but it has lost much of the magic and charm of the original.
