00:36The council says the commercial review began in April and continued into the autumn.
00:40It covers charges for leisure, parking, the Liverpool Film Office, bereavement services and city halls.
00:46Across all council-managed spaces, parking costs have risen by an average of 4%.
00:51The council says that it is broadly in line with inflation measured by the Consumer Prices Index,
00:56which is 3.1%.
00:58Council leader Liam Robinson defended the decision on a BBC Radio Mayor's side phone-in.
01:02He said city centre parking charges had not been reviewed for 30 years before last year's changes
01:07and argued prices need more modernising.
01:10He rejected claims the council was using parking as a cash cow.
01:14Robinson said money raised goes back into enforcement, including recruitment and round-the-clock work.
01:19He pointed to an operation with taxi licensing officers, which resulted in more than 500 tickets.
01:25He also said enforcement's been targeted around Anfield following concerns from residents.
