00:03One more push, Your Grace. I can see the shell.
00:10What's wrong?
00:11Give the egg to the Duchess.
00:13The void mark. The egg is corrupted.
00:17That's impossible. Let me see her.
00:24The first flame decree says,
00:26if the mark won't wash off, the egg goes to the purifying flame before moonrise.
00:34Liar! I'm the last dragon queen.
00:37Who smeared this filth on my shell?
00:40Lucian, give me my daughter.
00:42Don't, Evelyn. We can have another child.
00:56Evelyn? Lucian? House Blackthorn?
01:00Wait, this is the family that gets wiped out in the Book of Fate!
01:10You helped Prince Vargan steal the dragon throne.
01:13You sent every Ashford to the block.
01:15My father and the king trusted you.
01:19Varric is the dragon king now.
01:20Now, the winner decides who the traitors were.
01:23The Ashfords chose the wrong side.
01:27Since you're dying, I'll give you the truth.
01:30Olden, the royal dragon trial's champion you raised,
01:33is mine and Lucian's.
01:36No.
01:38Your son is Rowan.
01:40I sealed his dragon core and dumped him in the Blackthorn Wyver stables.
01:44You passed him every day and never knew.
01:46And your daughter?
01:48Her egg was never void-touched.
01:50Lucian paid the Midway to paint the shell
01:52and send it to the flame before she could hatch.
02:01Lucian.
02:02Marissa.
02:04If the first flame grants me another life,
02:07I will make you pay.
02:12I'm not even hatched and my own father wants me burned?
02:14Mom! Save me!
02:17Who said that?
02:20No one.
02:21You're exhausted.
02:23Let me handle the egg.
02:25Mom, it's painted.
02:26Warm water will wash it off.
02:28Don't let them take me!
02:29Stop!
02:33Bring it back.
02:35I haven't even held it.
02:36You don't trust me?
02:39Lying, lizard.
02:40Don't trust him, Mom.
02:45If my daughter is going to the flame,
02:47I get to hold her first.
02:48Get back in bed.
02:49You're exhausted.
02:55See?
02:56Warm water melts it.
02:58One more wipe and my shell will sparkle again.
03:02Clara.
03:03Warm water.
03:08The vow around you is already dark.
03:11You will lose your family,
03:13your name,
03:14and then your life.
03:16Can I stop it?
03:18When the smallest spark speaks inside your heart,
03:21don't dismiss it.
03:23Trust it.
03:23It is the only door fate will leave open.
03:34There.
03:35Maybe Mom isn't hopeless after all.
03:42The mark is fake.
03:44Guards, arrest Mora.
03:48Your Grace, it's not me.
03:50It must be someone else.
03:51You nearly killed my child,
03:53and that's your excuse.
03:55You need rest.
03:56I'll question her myself.
03:58He did.
03:59He'll silence Mora.
04:02Fine.
04:03Handle it.
04:07Did our daughter's father really try to kill our daughter?
04:13Uh, Mom?
04:14I think I'm hatching.
04:27Clara, send an Ashford guard after them.
04:29Quietly.
04:29Make sure Mora is still alive by morning.
04:31You suspect the Duke.
04:32I trust evidence.
04:34Go.
04:49You came to me out of the stars.
04:51Lyra.
04:52The name written in the sky.
04:54Lyra?
04:55That's my old name.
04:56Mom's good at this.
04:58She is so pretty and warm.
05:01I like her,
05:01but I am starving.
05:03Clara, is Marita's wetliff here?
05:07She's waiting outside.
05:08No, she's Marita's spy.
05:10She'll lace the milk with sleep thorns.
05:11She's father's mistress.
05:13His mistress?
05:14Marista is his mother's distant cousin.
05:20Evelyn, this is Marissa Vale.
05:22Her parents were killed in the border raids.
05:24She has nowhere else to go.
05:25Your Grace,
05:26I won't be any trouble.
05:27I just need somewhere to stay.
05:28If you're Lucian's family,
05:30this is your home too.
05:41You're Grace,
05:42the wet wafer's still waiting.
05:43Shall I bring her in?
05:44Send her away.
05:45I'll feed Lyra myself.
05:47But you've been ill for nearly a year.
05:49The physician said you are too weak.
05:51You have no milk.
05:52Don't be sad.
05:53Silverhorn dough milk is safe for a celestial dragon.
05:56Just don't let Marissa's people touch my bottle.
05:58Bring fresh silverhorn milk.
06:00From now on,
06:01anything that touches Lyra comes through you or me.
06:04And Marissa?
06:05She doesn't set foot in this room.
06:09Find two people I can trust.
06:10One follows Lucian.
06:11One follows Marissa.
06:12I want to know where they go,
06:13who they see.
06:14Understood.
06:16If Lyra is right,
06:18then my entire marriage was a lie from the start.
06:28Marissa isn't the only trap.
06:30Uncle Darian gets framed for selling royal flight maps in three days.
06:34Clara,
06:35get a secret message to my brother.
06:38Tell him to inventory every map in the Ashford war room.
06:44What should I give him?
06:46Tell him his sister finally learned that trust could be failed.
06:58Mother,
06:59I heard my sister survived.
07:01I came to see her.
07:04That's Marissa's son.
07:06And he already hates me.
07:11You may greet her from there.
07:15You never used to shut me out.
07:17Then give me no reason to start.
07:37A gift.
07:38It can breathe smoke.
07:42And there's sleep thorn powder inside it.
07:45One breath and Clara won't wake up.
07:49Put it down,
07:50Alden.
08:02A toy doesn't eat through silver.
08:05Someone must have switched it.
08:07Of course.
08:09In this house,
08:10it is always someone else.
08:25My lady!
08:32Clara,
08:33lock the gates.
08:35No one leaves this estate.
08:37Mum saw him.
08:38This time,
08:39he can't smile his way out.
08:46I tried to catch the carriage.
08:48My hand slipped.
08:49Your hand slipped before or after you release the brake.
08:54Father will believe me.
08:56We'll see.
08:59Enough.
09:00Alden made a mistake.
09:02Your maid nearly got our daughter killed.
09:03You arrived quickly for a man who was supposedly at court.
09:09The physician sent this for your strength.
09:14Don't drink it.
09:16Emberbine.
09:18Tiny doses kill a dragon from the inside.
09:25How thoughtful.
09:26Leave it.
09:27I'll drink every drop.
09:35Clara,
09:36bring me the royal toxicologist.
09:38Quietly.
09:40Good.
09:41Mum isn't swallowing anything they hand her anymore.
09:56Emberbine.
09:57You've been taking it for years.
09:59Another winter and your dragon core would fail.
10:01Can you trace the supplier?
10:03Only the royal infirmary and three noble houses can buy it.
10:07Blackthorn is one of them.
10:09Dad signs the orders.
10:10Marissa grinds it into Mom's tonic.
10:14Seal a sample under the royal mark.
10:17If I die,
10:18deliver it to the Dragon King.
10:27She didn't drink?
10:28She took the bowl.
10:31Varric needs the Ashford's week before the succession vote.
10:34Then let Evelyn fade slowly.
10:37Grief looks cleaner than murder.
10:40Tomorrow,
10:41Marissa drinks my medicine.
10:53You look dreadful.
10:55Lucien will worry if you skip your tonic.
10:57You're right.
10:59Families should share what is good for them.
11:10My hands are still weak.
11:12Marissa, drink it.
11:14I shouldn't take your medicine.
11:17One sip is okay.
11:18Go on.
11:20Mom made Dad poison his own mistress.
11:23That's art.
11:30My core.
11:31It's burning.
11:33How strange.
11:34That tonic was meant for me.
11:37Call the physician.
11:39Yes.
11:40And call the royal toxicologist.
11:42He already knows the formula.
11:55Save her.
11:56Use my blood if you have to.
11:57You never offered me your blood before.
12:06This is different.
12:09Yes.
12:11Now I can see the difference.
12:13Yeah.
12:16Evelyn, please.
12:18We are family.
12:23Then tell me who poisoned the family
12:28The stables
12:29My real brother is in the stables
12:31And Alden just went after him
12:44Where are you going?
12:45To meet the child you worked so hard to keep from me
13:04Move, you rat
13:06Hit me
13:07The Withered did nothing to you
13:15And what did he do to deserve this?
13:18He stole feed
13:19Father said I could discipline servants
13:22I gave my ration to the hatchling
13:23You ordered it starved
13:25That's him, Roland
13:27Mum's stolen son
13:34Where did you get that mark?
13:36I was born with it
13:38The Duke says it proved my mother was a thief
13:41No
13:42It proves your mother was in Ashford
13:50Mum, don't leave him here
13:52They already broke his core once
13:57Clara, bring my carriage
13:59Rowan is leaving with us
14:00Paul
14:07You cannot take a servant because you feel sorry for him
14:11You recovered quickly
14:13This boy lies
14:14He was abandoned here
14:17Then why are you afraid of his birthmark?
14:24Evelyn, put this nonsense aside
14:27I am taking Rowan to a healer
14:29If he's not one of yours, you lose nothing
14:31And if I forbid it
14:36Try to stop me in front of every Ashford guard outside
14:51My lady, I might drop her
14:53You protected a wythin with your body
14:55I trust you with her
14:57Hi, big brother
14:59Sorry it took us 18 years to find you
15:03Did the baby just call me her brother?
15:15This is not a birth defect
15:16Someone sealed his core when he was an infant
15:21Can it be undone?
15:25Not without killing him
15:28I'm used to the chair
15:31You should never have had to be
15:39I can't break it all yet
15:40But I can start
15:42My foot
15:43I felt her kick
15:49I came to apologize
15:51These are some candies for Lila
15:53Poisoned, again
15:54Does this family own any normal snacks?
15:58I'll taste one first
16:03You don't have to
16:05Olden
16:06Eat one yourself
16:13You think I'd poison my own sister?
16:16Fine
16:23I didn't save you
16:25I saved the truth
16:28Clara, seal the candy with the tonic
16:30We are building quite a family archive
16:36Father will take me home
16:39Then he can explain why his heir carries poison
16:48The warning was right
16:49Someone copied the royal flight maps
16:51Tonight the king wants our family at court
16:56No one eats or drinks at court unless Clara serves it
17:06Especially crown prince Caelan's wine
17:08That's where Varad strikes next
17:20To the future king
17:21May his flame outshine us all
17:23From you uncle that almost sounds sincere
17:32Void ash
17:33One sip stops his heart
17:35Mum
17:36Switch the silver cups
17:49You crossed the room to fix a napkin
17:51I crossed the room because the crown prince should not drink from that cup
17:55Lucien
17:56You chose the vintage
17:57Taste it for his highness
18:01That would be improper
18:02A loyal commander should be honored
18:22Seal the hall
18:24Seal the hall
18:34I selected the wine and controlled the serving list
18:37An unusual child
18:38She watches like she understands every word
18:40And you look like a man who should stay away from open flames
18:49Marissa Vale used this seal before she claimed poverty
18:54Then we stopped letting her hide in the guest wind
18:56You want her closer?
18:59I want every lie dragged into the light
19:09Lucien insists you are family
19:10So stay under my roof and my rules
19:13You would welcome me as a sister
19:16No
19:17As evidence
19:20Evelyn
19:21What?
19:22Aren't you tired of sneaking to her room?
19:42A stable hand playing air
19:44That's adorable
19:46An air who needs poison to beat a baby is less adorable
19:49You think she can make you a blackthorn?
19:55He doesn't need that name to be my son
20:01From this moment on
20:02An attack on Roland is an attack on Laos Ashford
20:05You can't declare that without proof
20:08Then stop preventing the blood test
20:18Marissa Vale is carrying a child
20:23Lucien
20:25Congratulations
20:25Now cut the act all of you
20:31General Thorne is old
20:32Wealthy
20:33And needs an heir
20:34He'll marry you quietly
20:36You promised I would be Duchess
20:40I promised before you made our child public
20:45I gave you 18 years
20:47And I gave your son my name
20:51He'll sell anyone once they stop being useful
20:53Good
20:54Let Marissa learn it before I finish teaching him
21:05If this child cannot make me Duchess
21:07It will do when it dies
21:20You offer me your pregnant mistress and call it an alliance
21:24The child could bear your name
21:27My name has survived wars
21:29It will survive without your scandal
21:32You knew?
21:33The whole capital knows
21:35Your Duchess made sure of it
21:44I need blood vines strong enough to end a pregnancy in minutes
21:51That dose may kill you too
21:53Then make sure it looks like someone else did it
22:10Put it on the Blackthorn account
22:12I'm afraid only the Duchess may authorize that account
22:16I carry the Duke's child
22:17Half the women in this city claim the same
22:20Claims do not open credit
22:28Keep it
22:29I no longer buy decorations for House Blackthorn
22:32Come to the Moonfeast tomorrow
22:33Unless you're afraid to face me in public
22:36I'll come
22:37Bring your best life
22:46Even the chair knows who you are not
22:50For now
22:55Your Grace, may I hold your daughter?
22:58Her dragon eggs are alive
23:00Two of them
23:01But the healer's cold tonic is freezing their flame
23:04Your Highness, who prescribed that tonic?
23:10Varric's physician
23:11He said I had already lost the egg
23:13Then let a second heather examine you
23:16Before you drink another drop
23:20Please listen
23:21Your babies are fighting to stay
23:44Twins
23:45Both alive, both dangerously cold
23:49I was told
23:50I was told there was nothing left to save
23:52Varric's doctor wanted you to stop looking
23:54Warm the crystal with Phoenix salt
23:57Slowly
24:01She said Phoenix salt
24:04You can hear her?
24:07Every word
24:08And if my children live
24:10House Ashford will never stand alone again
24:15The Duchess of Blackthorn is under my protection tonight
24:21How fortunate for her
24:23No
24:25Fortunate for me
24:38One fall, one scream
24:40Evelyn loses everything
24:42What if the baby dies?
24:45Then it will finally do something useful for us
24:49And Rowan?
24:53He will be the hand that pushed me
25:01Your Grace
25:02Her dress is already bleeding
25:04Then let her choose the stage
25:06We will choose the witnesses
25:29The Deathline moved again
25:30Rowan, above him!
25:38You saved my life
25:41Lyra saw it first
25:44Then both of you saved me
25:50It was an accident
25:52Funny
25:54Accidents keep happening wherever you stand
26:06He cut it
26:07He wanted to play the hero
26:09From a wheelchair?
26:10That's your story?
26:12The filings are on your gloves, Alden
26:17Someone planted them
26:19Confine him until the guard finishes its inquiry
26:23Your Highness, he is my heir
26:25Then you should have taught him better
26:39I can feel both legs
26:44Can you move them?
26:49Not yet
26:50And don't tell Dad
26:51We may need one secret he doesn't own
26:55Then the chair stays
26:57Only until you choose the moment to stand
27:11You should expose his recovery
27:13The king would protect him
27:16The king could protect him from a blade
27:18Not from every servant Varric has bought
27:22You are learning to think like a commander
27:25No
27:26Like a mother who finally knows there is a war
27:40Does that include Evelyn?
27:43If she forces me to choose
27:44Yes
27:56One was Alden's
27:57One was found on Roid
27:58Same maker, same date
28:00Different initials filed away
28:02They switched the boys
28:05I raised their son
28:06While mine slept beside animals
28:10What do you need from me?
28:12A royal witness when they finally confess
28:24It's a trap
28:25Yes
28:26We're still going?
28:28A trap is also a room where everyone you need is already waiting
28:40To a fresh start
28:43You had 18 years to start fresh
28:51He pushed me
28:52My baby
28:54I saw it
28:55Rowan attacked her
28:58Guards
28:58Seize him
28:59No one touches my son until the royal physician examines her
29:12He brought the poison too
29:16Rowan, you tried to murder my child
29:21You never called me yours
29:29The pouch is tied with Blackthorn cavalry cord
29:32Rowan never served in your unit
29:35Anyone can lie
29:36That is why I brought a truth crystal
29:38I am bleeding to death and you interrogate my son?
29:44No, my lady
29:45You are bleeding goat's blood
29:59The child was already failing from a dose she took herself
30:02The four did nothing
30:05Evelyn planted it
30:08The apothetic who sold it is outside
30:10Under royal guard
30:15Confess now
30:16Or confess before the dragon came
30:20You should have died in that stable
30:23So you do remember where my son was left
30:30Move Rowan below
30:32Before dawn
30:33Make it look like he attacked a guard
30:38And the duchess
30:41She will learn too late
30:52If you kill me, mother will know
30:57The duke says grief makes women confused
31:07Father
31:08They tried to kill me
31:12Not him
31:13I said Rowan
31:21Thank you, Lucian
31:22Say it once more for the royal witness
31:33A stable boy cannot become my son
31:35Because Evelyn wants revenge
31:37No
31:37Your blood will do that
31:42Rowan is the biological son of Evelyn Ashford
31:45And Lucian Blackhorn
31:46Then what am I?
31:47The child I loved
31:49And the child they used to replace mine
31:54The crystal is wrong
31:56Royal blood crystals do not lie
31:58People do
32:08Whose son is Alden?
32:10Mine
32:10And his father?
32:13Lucian
32:15You told me she stole father from you
32:17I told you what made you obey
32:19She used both of us
32:21No
32:23They did
32:26Eighteen years of lies
32:27Tonight every one of them ends
32:31You will destroy this house
32:32You already did
32:34I am opening the door so the children can leave
32:44Did you switch the boys?
32:47I gave the house a strong heir
32:52Did you poison me?
32:54Varric needed the Ashford's manageable
32:56Did you order Rowan killed tonight?
32:59I was protecting everything we built
33:05Then I want nothing we built
33:07I petitioned to dissolve our marriage bond
33:11You have no house without me
33:14Watch me build one
33:24Your grace
33:25By order of the Dragon King
33:27You and Lyra must come to the palace at once
33:32What happened?
33:35The Crown Prince is dying
33:47Every healer says his heart is sound
33:53Yet his flame is disappearing
33:56It's fate-binding
33:57Someone tied his life to a dead comet
34:02Lyra says it is fate-binding
34:06You hear her too?
34:12We can explain later
34:13First, clear the room and bring Phoenix Salt
34:24I can cut the line
34:26But someone has to hold me steady
34:32I've got you, little star
34:41Tell Prince Vardic I am done waiting
34:56Why is there a baby on my chest?
34:58Because the baby just saved your dramatic royal life
35:01She says you're welcome
35:05That is not exactly what she said
35:08We found the astrologer who bound Caelan's fate
35:10Varric had him killed before he could testify
35:12What remains?
35:14A ledger and a forged Ashford seal beside the body
35:28The evidence names Darian Ashford
35:30Arrest him before his dragons leave the capital
35:32Convenient evidence
35:34Found beside a witness you murdered
35:38Careful, General
35:39Treason and insolence often share a cell
35:43Enough
35:44Until the seal is verified
35:46House Ashford remains confined to the palace
35:56You wanted him to hear that
35:58He will not rebel while he fears my family
36:02Let him believe you broke us
36:13We announced the Ashwoods are imprisoned and I am still dying
36:19My riders hide beneath the eastern barracks
36:24And Vardid walks into a palace he believes defenseless
36:30Lucian will help him
36:31He chose power every time I gave him a choice
36:35Your daughter deserves a royal title tonight
36:38After the trap closes
36:40Reward her now and Varric will know we are lying
36:45Mum just postponed my princess wardrobe to save the kingdom
36:48Rude, but fair
37:05At last
37:13The royal dragon trials are tomorrow
37:15I can't win on skill
37:18Merit is the consolation prize of people who can't buy victory
37:24You can buy the judges
37:26I can buy the written test
37:27Bribe the flight judges and buy their silence
37:32Father will notice the money is gone
37:34Not once you return wearing the champion's gold
37:43Summon the house tribunal
37:45Evelyn wanted freedom
37:46I'll give her disgrace
37:54House Ashford stands accused of treason
37:57I petition this tribunal to dissolve my marriage and strip Evelyn of her settlement
38:02Then name one marriage vow I broke
38:06None is entered in evidence
38:09Then read mine
38:11Adultery, child substitution, poisoning, attempted murder and conspiracy against the crown
38:18Under the marriage covenant his crimes void his claim over me
38:21I petition for dissolution
38:23I petition for dissolution
38:23And for Rowan and Lyra to leave under my protection
38:27The children bear my name
38:30Then restore Rowan as heir and surrender Alden's claim
38:36The evidence voids the marriage covenant
38:38Evelyn retains her Ashford settlement
38:40And the children may leave under her protection
38:48From this moment I owe House Black but nothing
38:51And we're taking mum's furniture
38:54Clara, bring in the movie
39:01You cannot strip a ducal house bare
39:04I paid for every chair, plate and curtain
39:07The stone walls are Lucian's, he may keep them
39:10I have my own fortune
39:12Then redecorating should be easy
39:17Bring me the vault keys
39:19About the vault?
39:21How much is left?
39:23Nothing
39:25You spent my entire fortune?
39:28I invested in Alden's victory
39:31Alden Blackthorn has been named champion of the Royal Dragon Trials
39:43My son restored this house in one day
39:47The king summoned mother and me tomorrow
39:49After I receive my commission, father will marry her and make her duchess
39:53Duchess Marissa
39:55Evelyn will sound like a forgotten mistake
39:58At last, a duchess worthy of this family
40:08Where is the award ceremony?
40:11There is no ceremony
40:14The king summoned us
40:15To answer charges of bribery
40:18Theft of the written exam
40:20And fraud against the crown
40:28Your son's royal commission was our collateral
40:32Paytonite
40:34Give me a week
40:36A Blackstorn who cheats the crown is no Blackstorn of ours
40:40You praised him an hour ago
40:44An hour ago, he was useful
40:58The king collapsed after sentencing the trial immunitators
41:01Tonight the palace is leaderless
41:03My son is in his prison
41:06Help me take the throne and Alden walks free
41:08Refuse and your whole house dies poor and disgraced
41:13What do you need?
41:15Open the eastern gate at midnight
41:22No resistance
41:23The old king truly is finished
41:27By sunrise, your majesty, remember who opened the way
41:31I have the perfect reward
41:32You will kill your king
41:49Lucian Blackthorn
41:51I gave you command of my guard
41:54You gave the Ashfords everything
42:01Your legs healed long enough for me to learn exactly who my father is
42:10The Ashfords were never prisoners
42:12You were the one inside the trap
42:20You staged all of this for one, Commander?
42:23For every traitor who believed loyalty was weakness
42:29Lucian betrayed his king
42:31Poisoned his wife
42:33Stole one child
42:34And tried to burn another
42:37Evelyn, I can explain
42:42You had 18 years
42:44I am done listening
42:47Prince Varel and Lucian Blackhorn will stand trial for treason
42:50Strip them of title and command
43:04Rowan Ashford
43:05The realm owes you a life
43:06I would rather owe you a future
43:08I serve as the youngest sworn knight of my dragon guard
43:14With honor, your highness
43:17Darren Ashford is named Warden of the Realm
43:21Evelyn Ashford takes her own seat on the Dragon Council
43:24And Lyra
43:29Is named Princess of Starfire
43:31Protected by every dragon sworn to this crown
43:38You gave me back my son, my family and myself
43:43You did the brave part, Mum
43:44I just gave very good advice
43:47Come on, let's go home
