Sophie Denny reports.

00:00He's been under fire a lot this year and now FIFA President Gianni Infantino will be feeling
00:06the heat as the Eden Bridge Bonfire Society's chosen effigy for this year's celebrations.
00:13Gianni Infantino we selected basically because of the problems that he had through the World
00:19Cup, the questions that were being asked about the morality of what he was doing, association
00:27with a certain president in America and some of the awful decisions that were being made
00:34at the time.
00:35The effigy stands at 11 metres tall and as I was driving round the corner I could see Gianni
00:41Infantino's face looming over Eden Bridge, not a sentence you say every day, but it only
00:48took six days to paint the whole thing.
00:51It's really fast, we have to decide sort of a week before because otherwise it will
00:56be old news, wouldn't it?
00:58So yeah, it is really fast turnaround.
01:00The guy nods to the various controversies surrounding Infantino, including the FIFA Peace Prize awarded
01:06to US President Donald Trump and the suspension of a red card during this year's World Cup,
01:12alongside more local concerns such as roadworks and bin collections.
01:17Infantino beat other suggestions including politicians Nigel Farage and Andy Burnham, but the effigy does
01:24still include a political figure in President Trump, who was the chosen figure ten years
01:30ago and who has recently faced big losses in the US midterm elections.
01:35Alongside political and social commentary, the society says the effigy's main aim is to
01:41draw attention to their event, which raises money for local charities.
01:45It's done in a non-malicious way. We like to raise the profile of our event because the
01:51more people that attend, the more money that we can raise for local causes, which is very
01:56important, which is, as well as bringing the community together on Saturday with our procession
02:00and the display, it's also a way of bringing everything together.
02:04And for artist Andrea, seeing her work go up in flames makes all the hard work worth it.
02:11It's almost like a celebration of the whole hard work and seeing it in flames, the flames
02:15sort of represent the end victory and celebrations.
02:21As Guy Fawkes celebrations kick off, the society is hoping their effigy choice hits the back of
02:28the net. Sophie Denny for KMTV in Edenbridge.
