00:06Ladies and gentlemen,
00:07please welcome the Ravishing Russian, Lana.
00:26And now, America, I ask you to stand up and welcome the true American hero.
00:39The man that will crush Roman Reigns inside hell in a cell.
00:48You're soon to be three time United States champion.
00:54He is my husband, the Bulgarian Brut, Rusyn.
01:09And it was Clash of Champions last month where Rusev lost his United States
01:15championship to Roman Reigns.
01:17And tonight, Rusev looks to win back what he calls his United States title.
01:23Welcome to sold out TD Garden in Boston, ladies and gentlemen.
01:27I'm Michael Cole, joined by Byron Saxton and Corey Graves.
01:31Guys, Rusev steps inside Hell in a Cell for the first time in his career.
01:35Rusev says he's ready.
01:36We're about to find out just how, because the big dog is hungry for his US championship.
01:40It's gonna be gut check time.
01:42It's gonna be gut check time for Rusev.
01:43And it's gonna be gut check time for Roman Reigns in this match.
01:47International flair to this event tonight.
01:49Joining us at ringside, our Spanish colleagues, Carlos Cabrera and Marcello Rodriguez.
01:54Thank you Michael Cole.
01:56Three special events for 100% of championships within the incredible structure of the Infernal.
02:00After the Zelda, men and women will never be the same.
02:03Tomorrow, men and women will be completely different.
02:05And our German team anchored by Carsten Schaefer and Sebastian Hackl.
02:09Hello, ladies and gentlemen.
02:11Welcome to Raw-Groß-Veranstaltung Hell in a Cell.
02:15Here in the legendary Petey Garden from Boston, Massachusetts.
02:39Walk!
02:53And his name is Janky.
02:54How are you doing?
02:57We've got a new boss.
02:58I'm on thebble.
02:59There's a new boss.
03:01I'm going to be the best.
03:01May the best.
03:01We've got two holy Александros.
03:01We've got a new boss.
03:02We've got a new boss.
03:03We've got a new boss.
03:07Let's go.
03:36For the first time in history, the United States Championship will be defended inside Hell in a Cell.
03:43Roman Reigns enters this structure for the second time in his career.
03:48Corey, is that an advantage for Roman tonight?
03:50Absolutely, this match is as much mental as it is physical.
03:53And even that one opportunity to step inside gives Roman a slight edge.
03:58The following contest is a Hell in a Cell match for the United States Championship.
04:07Making his way to the ring from Pensacola, Florida, weighing 265 pounds.
04:12He is the United States Champion, Roman Reigns.
04:23The Byron Rusev tonight is driven by revenge,
04:27especially after how personal this has become between these two men and Rusev's wife Lana.
04:32Well, and that's the key right there, Rusev was embarrassed in front of his wife.
04:36Rusev is fueled by anger for Roman Reigns.
04:39And Rusev is fueled by the fact that he truly believes that United States Championship belongs to him.
04:44Only one time in the history of the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.
04:49As the United States Championship changed hands, that of course was not in a Hell in a Cell match.
04:58There's a man who's been a three-time WWE World Champion,
05:02Royal Rumble winner, and the current United States Champion.
05:06Roman Reigns, Rusev is a two-time United States Champion.
05:13To your earlier point, Cole, Roman may have a slight advantage having been inside the Cell before,
05:18but the destruction that Rusev has caused recently, he's been ballistic.
05:22I think if anyone can topple Roman Reigns, it might be Rusev tonight.
05:26And you see the official locking the door, that's Chad Patton locking the door of the Hell in a Cell.
05:32Remember, the only way to win this match tonight, and either retain or win the United States Championship,
05:38is via pinfall or submission, everything else goes inside the Cell.
05:46And Reigns and Rusev start things off for the United States title.
05:50It was 1997, at the Bad Blood pay-per-view event, where the very first Hell in a Cell match
05:57was held,
05:57The Undertaker versus Shawn Michaels.
05:59The night where we would see the introduction of The Undertaker's brother Kane.
06:03And here's Roman Reigns looking for the upper hand early on in the matchup.
06:08Remember, it was Reigns who wanted this.
06:10Rusev wanted another opportunity at the United States Championship.
06:13Roman said, let's do it inside Hell in a Cell.
06:18Roman Reigns may rue that decision in the upcoming moments.
06:23These two men have been battling for months.
06:26Very aggressive, very vicious battles as Reigns fires back with the right hand.
06:33So much contempt, so much disdain and score in between these two.
06:37Rusev, first cover of the matchup in a kick out.
06:43And now Reigns sent outside the ring, and Rusev will be in pursuit.
06:49Extremely dangerous out there, only a few feet separating the ring from the Cell,
06:53and Roman Reigns blocks.
07:01Which man's gonna be able to utilize this Cell as a weapon first?
07:12And Rusev backing Reigns into the corner.
07:14He was so upset losing the United States Championship in Clash of Champions last month.
07:21Rusev has not forgotten that Knight has vowed to win the title back.
07:25Rusev had that United States Championship.
07:27He had developed a newfound-
07:29Newfound aggression.
07:31Was able to hit the restart button on his career.
07:38Kick right to the ribcage.
07:40Yeah, you heard that, Roman felt it.
07:46And now it's Rusev sent out of the ring.
07:51And wasted little time to-
07:53Now, and Rusev, the first man of the matchup to collide with the Cell.
07:58That's exactly why Rusev was rushing to get back in the ring in the first place,
08:01trying to avoid that collision.
08:06Throughout history, Hell in a Cell has shortened careers.
08:10Just ask Raw General Manager Mick Foley.
08:14Roman described it as such, said, the Cell's a nightmare, you just can't wake.
08:19The Cell's a nightmare you can't wake up from.
08:23It's almost 300 pounds of Rusev just being launched unceremoniously into that steal.
08:31And Roman continues the attack.
08:34That's one of the things, Corey, in this type of matchup.
08:36Once you get the upper hand, you have to be relentless about the attack.
08:40And relentless is exactly Roman Reigns' mindset.
08:43I actually spoke to him earlier.
08:44He said, it's funny, this all started about their wedding celebration.
08:47Tonight's gonna look more like a wedding from Game of Thrones.
08:53Roman has not been shy about just how much the United States Championship means to him.
08:58Manziel's family's legacy.
09:00And for that, it's become just as personal.
09:03Man.
09:05And the big dogs hunting tonight.
09:12Rusev is stunned.
09:14You know what?
09:16You know what Roman Reigns has in mind here.
09:23Whatever it is, I'm sure it's not gonna be good for Rusev.
09:26Smart strategy by Rusev.
09:28Desperation, rake in the eyes of Roman Reigns.
09:31And again, rake in the eyes, legal in the matchup.
09:34No disqualifications, no count outs.
09:38Do as much damage as he can inside the cell.
09:41And Rusev driven shoulder first into the steps.
09:52Rusev's body is pinned between the cell and the staircase.
09:55It's a bad, bad place to be.
09:58The impact.
10:01What is Reigns looking for here?
10:06Oh boy, table time.
10:10And it's Rusev driving Reigns into the cell.
10:16At least temporarily, Rusev saving himself from the destructive intentions of Roman Reigns.
10:23My goodness.
10:24Big splash.
10:27Sandwiching Reigns between himself and the cell.
10:32And the United States champion Reigns in trouble.
10:36We spent so much time talking about how dangerous the cell is.
10:39How about two heavyweights crashing into the side of the cell?
10:42These two might damage the cell.
10:44Yeah, two heavyweights who can't stand each other.
10:47Reigns bounced off the ring post.
10:51And now Rusev.
10:53We talk a lot, Corey, about just the bitterness in this man.
10:57The stain that Rusev has for Roman Reigns.
11:01There's no better place on the planet to let it out than inside this cell.
11:06Rusev is free to do as he pleases to the United States champion.
11:10Just like a well-placed kick to the back of the neck.
11:18And Rusev looks to continue to inflict damage.
11:25And bounced off the ring post, Roman Reigns.
11:29And we caught just to look at it a moment ago.
11:32But Rusev's arm has been lacerated in this matchup.
11:35Here's the cover by Rusev and a kick out.
11:37And this is where we think Rusev hurt his arm.
11:41See Rusev crashing into the steel.
11:45That mesh will tear flesh apart.
11:47Tell you what, that laceration may have been a blessing in disguise for Rusev.
11:51Because now he's been able to control the tempo of this match ever since.
11:58Just sort of a wake up call.
11:59I wouldn't say anything that occurs inside that cell is a blessing, Saxton.
12:03Well, it could do so.
12:05U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A.
12:09Cell is 20 feet tall and weighs five tons.
12:15And gulping the ring as Roman Reigns tries to get back into this.
12:20Reversal whip into the corner, shoulder first goes Reigns.
12:24Rusev looking to win the championship.
12:26Hooks the leg, can he do it here?
12:27And a power out by Reigns.
12:29Only a one count.
12:33Saw the impact with which Reigns crashed into the top turnbuckle.
12:37What might have damaged his shoulder?
12:39Separated it.
12:40It seems like, Corey, the pace of this match will favor Rusev right now as we take
12:44another look.
12:44Boom, and that's what Corey was talking about.
12:46Shoulder right into the turnbuckle.
12:51It could certainly affect the offense of Roman as this match goes on,
12:55particularly trying to deliver that spear.
12:57Rusev determined right now.
12:59Absolutely methodical.
13:00Yeah.
13:01Except Roman Reigns sidesteps.
13:04Reigns buys himself a little bit of time and hip-tossed by Rusev.
13:09And the 300 counter went for the headbutt, and Roman rolled out of the way.
13:15Quick reaction time from Reigns now buys him a little window of recovery.
13:21If you're both of these superstars, you have to ask yourself,
13:23at what point does it stop being about the United States champion and start being
13:27about unleashing contempt on your opponent?
13:30I think that's where Rusev is at.
13:32I think we're getting that from Reigns at the moment.
13:35And Roman with some clotheslines in the corner.
13:40He's got Rusev pinned.
13:41Seven, seven, seven, nine, ten.
13:50And Roman building momentum with a boot to the face.
13:54And the United States champion is starting to feel it.
13:58That is bad news for Rusev.
14:06Uh-oh, lock and load.
14:09And Rusev, he felt it coming.
14:11He turned around, and he decided it's best to move out of harm's way.
14:15But Roman Reigns is gonna continue the pursuit.
14:18When you're inside the cell, is there any such thing as out of harm's way?
14:21Man, he went for the drive-by, and Reigns caught him with a clothesline to the chest.
14:28Looks like Rusev was playing possum there for a moment.
14:32Suckered Reigns in.
14:33And these men know each other so well, so many battles.
14:37Reigns has been driven into the steps, shoulder first.
14:43He's felt that on a number of occasions at the hands of Rusev.
14:47Not much room there in the corner of the cell.
14:51Roman surrounded by steel.
15:03Now Roman drives Reigns.
15:05I should say Rusev drives Reigns into the side of the cell.
15:09And again, impacting the shoulder of Roman Reigns.
15:14No, we know what Rusev's capable of with those stares in his hands.
15:17Yeah, I mentioned it earlier.
15:19Been really a story of this rivalry.
15:23And Rusev with those steel stares.
15:28Facial Reigns, and that drops the champion.
15:36The Bulgarian Brute living up to his nickname.
15:42Roman Reigns may leave the cell with a diamond plate tattoo on his head.
15:46Again.
15:48And Reigns driven down yet again, the impact of the steps.
15:57Rusev almost as if he's surveying the carcass of his damaged prey.
16:06Remember what Rusev did with those steps to Reigns a few weeks ago.
16:09He had Roman Reigns on the steel steps with the accolade locked in.
16:14Can Rusev do that tonight and get Reigns to tap out and win the championship?
16:27That may be what Roman has in mind.
16:29What is or not.
16:35Rusev putting those steel steps on the top rope.
16:41My goodness, this could be devastating for Roman.
16:45Rusev looking to drive Reigns face first into the steps, but Roman able to block.
16:53And again able to block.
16:59Reigns is able to hit that panic button.
17:01He knew what Rusev had in mind.
17:03And Rusev driven over the top rope's wicked clothesline by Roman.
17:11Reigns trying to get the feeling back in his right arm.
17:22Just imagine the welts and the bruises.
17:26You don't have to imagine and look at Roman Reigns.
17:28His right arm is barely functional.
17:30Trying to get the feeling back into it just to finish the competition.
17:33And again, look at this.
17:35Man.
17:37Right off that, the support post.
17:41Shoulder first went, Rusev.
17:45And now Rusev, no, he looks to launch Roman Reigns.
17:47Now Roman Reigns right into the cell.
17:55Rusev right now is just trying to systematically
17:58dismantle the United States Champion.
18:00This is the pace I believe Corey Rusev wants this match at.
18:04Rusev has to be careful not to spend too much time just inflicting punishment like this.
18:10Ramrodding the United States Champion.
18:12Skull first into the steel and Rusev is bringing out the lumber.
18:22Looks like, uh-oh.
18:25Rusev opting for the kendo stick.
18:30Rusev took too much time.
18:32And Roman's got kendo stick in hand.
18:52Rusev just striking at real.
18:55Like Roman Reigns kinda chopped down a redwood tree.
18:57My gosh.
18:58He did.
19:02Rusev screaming in agony.
19:05And it's all legal.
19:13You can hear that echo.
19:22And Roman Reigns now in control.
19:25Defending his United States Championship inside Hell in a Cell momentarily though.
19:30And Rusev used the ropes to his advantage.
19:34Great ring awareness, unique low blow.
19:41Rusev trying to.
19:42No, he's locking Reigns up.
19:44He's got Roman caught.
19:45No.
19:46Roman's helpless.
19:48Roman is helpless and Rusev's got the kendo stick.
19:51This is gonna be bad.
19:54Roman can't defend himself.
19:58This is gonna shatter Roman's ribs.
20:02Rusev unloading on the champion.
20:05Unlegal.
20:06The referee can't do anything.
20:08He can't help Reigns get out of those ropes.
20:15And Rusev could be closing in on his third United States Championship.
20:20Well, you better believe that's what Rusev is thinking.
20:26Reigns.
20:27How do Reigns break out?
20:29Exploding out of the ropes.
20:31Cover by the champion.
20:33One, two, one.
20:34Near fall.
20:35Kick out by Rusev.
20:39Take a look at this.
20:40The Bulgarian group full head of steam.
20:42Right into a massive Roman Reigns Lariat.
20:45Yeah, Rusev was not expecting that.
20:48Reigns hit him from out of nowhere.
20:50Is that the last ditch bit of energy that Reigns had to expend in this match?
20:56See him still favoring the ribs after all those kendo shots.
21:02Both of these gladiators have given it their all.
21:05All for the right to be the United States champion.
21:08Who can make it to their feet first?
21:13Critical point in the matchup.
21:18Looking for the advantage, challenger Rusev, champion Reigns.
21:30He's trading hard, vicious shots.
21:35Just total disdain for each other.
21:40Rapid fire from the Bulgarian group.
21:42The big dog's gonna feel like he's trading paws with a Bengal tiger right now.
21:48And Reigns was looking for the Samoan drop.
21:52Dropped him all right into a right hand.
21:56Went for the Superman punch.
21:58Rusev counter, drives him into the corner.
22:01There he did.
22:02He got him that time.
22:04Superman punch by Reigns.
22:06Inside leg hook to retain the title.
22:08Take out of two.
22:14Watch this sequence here.
22:16As Roman Reigns with a big Superman punch.
22:22Part of that explosive offense that Reigns has been so successful with.
22:29Yeah, but Rusev was still able to stay alive, kicking out off the Superman punch.
22:34No such thing as air brakes or else Rusev would have used him.
22:45Now you see the expression on Reigns, like I got him.
22:48I got Rusev right where I want him.
22:54Rusev, he knows where he's at.
22:55Yeah, but Roman does.
23:04Spirit ran into a kick.
23:07Head first.
23:09Goodness.
23:10The steps for the championship to call the new champion and Roman Reigns kicks out.
23:17Just when you, Byron, and the entire WWE Universe thought Roman Reigns had
23:22Rusev where he wanted him.
23:24Rusev turns the tides and launches the big dog skull first into the stairs.
23:29Yeah, but look at Rusev.
23:30Rusev thought he had Reigns beat.
23:32Yeah, Roman Reigns was still able to kick out.
23:37Watch this.
23:39The Impact steps out of the ring, but Roman Reigns still able to kick out before a count of three.
23:46Yeah, but it could be just instinct as Rusev's looking to finish the deed.
23:50Uh-oh, Reigns is on his stomach, you know what that means.
24:00Rusev looking to crush Roman Reigns, foot to the spine, accolade time, submission maneuver.
24:06Is Reigns gonna tap out with his United States Championship up for grabs?
24:10The accolade is in deep.
24:13Reigns has got nowhere to go.
24:17Rusev with all his weight is squeezing and wrenching back.
24:24He's got his weight planted in the small, the back of Roman Reigns.
24:27He's got this locked in, Corey.
24:29Reigns has got nowhere to go.
24:30Look at the extension of Roman Reigns' shoulders.
24:33His shoulders are about to burst through the sockets.
24:35But he can't still be.
24:38Reigns is still fighting.
24:40Reigns is still.
24:41He's trying to fight to the bottom rope, but the situation here is not gonna matter.
24:48Ropes can't break in Hell in a Cell.
24:50Rusev right back.
24:52Oh, oh, oh.
24:53Roman Reigns.
24:55Oh, man.
24:56Lights out.
24:58Kick right on the temple.
25:02Reigns thought he escaped danger.
25:06Rusev cut him off in his tracks.
25:12Rusev, the super athlete, so deceptively agile.
25:16The big boot right to the temple of the United States Champion.
25:27Roman Reigns may start to rue the decision to ask for this match inside Hell in a Cell,
25:32because that chain is perfectly legal.
25:36And maybe Rusev's ticket to the United States Championship.
25:41Rusev is like a shark smelling blood.
25:48Measuring.
25:49Roman caught him to the right.
25:51The chain went flying.
25:53Roman Reigns unloading on Rusev.
25:58Where's Roman getting this energy burst from?
26:02Second win for Reigns, he's the champion.
26:09Rusev's got the chain again.
26:12Right to the midsection.
26:15No!
26:16It's on the back.
26:22Dangerous situation for the champion.
26:24With Rusev with that chain in hand.
26:26The weight from that chain could crack a rib, fracture a vertebrae.
26:33You see Rusev utilizes steel steps, a kendo stick, and now that chain.
26:39quecent goal reiev backore.
26:43What his Rusev plan to do now?
26:47Rasev!
26:49Rasev!
26:51Rasev!
26:53Rasev's got the steel steps!
26:56Rasev!
26:57Rasev!
26:58Rasev!
27:00Rasev!
27:04Rasev!
27:05Rasev!
27:07Rasev!
27:08Roman Reigns has just been beaten with that chain.
27:22After the mauling we've seen from the Bulgarian group,
27:26Roman Reigns has gotta be running on instinct alone.
27:29Yeah, well, instinct alone is helping Rusev here, right hand and a headbutt.
27:33And now Roman Reigns fighting back, bounced off the steps though by the Bulgarian
27:37through.
27:40Shoulder first into the step, and the assault continues to win the United States
27:45Championship, kick out again by Reigns.
27:48Still in it, Reigns is still in this match.
27:56Take another look at this, Reigns shoulder first bang.
28:00Into that kick right on the jaw.
28:03And now does Roman Reigns continue to survive.
28:06All these high impact blows that Rusev has been able to deliver to Roman Reigns who,
28:10look at Reigns, he's just, he's lifeless.
28:13And I'll tell you what, Roman Reigns at this point, he's gotta be thinking,
28:17Rusev's not just gonna end my United States Championship reign, he may end my career.
28:23On the steps.
28:30And now Rusev looking for the accolade again on the steel steps and
28:34this time gonna legally use the chain.
28:39Cold steel tearing away at the jaw of Roman Reigns, the accolade locked in.
28:46Reigns is gonna have to tap, what else can he do?
28:48This is the epitome of barbaric by Rusev.
28:51He might not tap, but he may pass out.
28:55The Bulgarian fruit.
28:58Look at the position of Roman's body.
29:00Maybe time for Roman to swallow his pride before Rusev makes him swallow his chain.
29:05And it's trying, Reigns is trying to hold on as much as he can.
29:08Reigns is gonna tap.
29:10How much does Roman Reigns have left?
29:14Rusev with the accolade, locked in good, Roman Reigns trying to somehow fight back.
29:18Wait, wait, wait.
29:22Roman showing the signs of life.
29:25No way.
29:27He's got Rusev up on his shoulders.
29:32A drop out of the steps.
29:38How did Reigns pull that off?
29:43Divine intervention.
29:44I have no idea.
29:46He delivered an earth shattering Samoan drop to the Bulgarian Brute.
29:51There is something in the spirit of Roman Reigns right now that is just driving him to do anything to
29:57survive.
30:01Yeah, but again, it's Rusev back to his feet.
30:05One, two, three.
30:06Still steps, still favoring the lower back after the Samoan drop.
