00:00It doesn't matter how hard you work, you cannot work your way out of a failing system.
00:04This is the reality of somebody who lives in a nice little suburb in Midrand,
00:09in a three-bedroom house with three bathrooms, two of which have a shower and a bath.
00:15But I'm playing it because I'm bathing in a plastic tub.
00:21Now, is it because I didn't pay my water and lights this month? No, I did.
00:25But like I said at the beginning of the video, it doesn't matter how hard you work,
00:29you cannot work your way out of a failing system.
00:31You can be the most compliant citizen, paying your rates and taxes every month.
00:36And yet, no service delivery.
00:39No water for you and I.
00:41No power for you and I.
00:42As the black metal class, we love to distance ourselves from the social ills of the country.
00:47We think it's somebody else's responsibility to bear.
00:50And yet, we call people names when they protest, when they burn tires and block roads,
00:54in protest of service delivery, or the lack thereof.
00:59Well, I'd normally say that God is in the neighborhood.
01:01Except this time, it's dysfunction that's at your door.
01:04We think that if we work hard enough to get out of Egazi and live in the burbs,
01:07then the criminality will not affect us because, oh, there's so much crime, Egazi.
01:13Well, Sana, I'm here to tell you that crime is in the government.
01:17Criminality starts at the top.
01:18And so, yeah, you've paid your rates and taxes, but there's nobody to pick up your refuse.
01:22Your dustbins line up outside the complex and they fill your tree-lined streets with a stench.
01:28They reek with a stench of corruption.
01:30With potholes at every corner and traffic lights that don't work,
01:33people are losing their lives because of the corruption at the top.
