00:01Tom Waddington set off from Newfoundland on an ambitious adventure.
00:06He's undertaking a 2,000-mile journey.
00:0912,000 people have climbed Everest.
00:11Almost 700 people have been in space.
00:14And only a handful of people have rode solo across the North Atlantic.
00:19When you're in the middle of the Atlantic, you've got very big waves.
00:22They've had lots and lots of time to build up, no land mass to break them down.
00:26It's right up there in the level of fear and, am I going to get through this?
00:31The water temperature's freezing. The air temperature's freezing.
00:35It's raining. It's often foggy. Potentially could be icebergs.
00:39It's going to be hell. I know that. I'm prepared for it.
00:42People really underestimate how tough it is.
00:46In those darker moments when you're cold, wet, tired, discouraged,
00:51and you are in big scenes, it can feel that the world is against you.
00:57Ultimately, I want to help people.
01:00I want to raise awareness for people suffering with mental health and mental health issues.
01:07And it was startling, actually, the intensity of the desire to go out and do this, frankly, terrifying challenge
01:15for the good of other people.
01:19What he would have achieved, hardly anyone has.
01:23With these guys.
01:42We'll see you next time.
