00:14After he had sealed the crest of dragons, Solomon bade another demon to present himself.
00:21And there came before him a spirit in woman's form that had a head and half a body but without
00:29any limbs, for they were invisible, and her hair was disheveled.
00:34And Solomon said to her, Who are you?
00:38But she answered, Nay, who are you?
00:42And why do you want to hear concerning me?
00:45But as I stand bound before your face, if you would learn, go then into your royal storehouse
00:52and wash your hands.
00:53Then sit down afresh before your tribunal and ask me questions, and you shall learn,
01:00O king, who I am.
01:04And Solomon did as she told him, so that he might hear of her deeds, the extent of her powers,
01:10so that he might reprimand them and manifest them to men.
01:14He sat down and said to the demon, What are you?
01:19And the demon said, I am Obazuth, as men call me, and I do not sleep, nor tire.
01:28By night, I go round over the world and visit pregnant women who are due to give birth, divining
01:35the hour I take my stand.
01:38As the woman goes into labor, as she pushes forth the child, I go in for the child and
01:45make sure it does not live, for I strangle it to death.
01:49But if I am not lucky, I retire to another place and look for the next child and the next.
01:57I do not retire unsuccessful, even for a single night, for I am a fierce spirit, known by many
02:05names and able to take on many forms.
02:09Indeed, Obazuth is a fierce demon, a very terrible one.
02:15Known as Abizu in European myths, and as Hal or Al in Persian myths, she is said to cause
02:23miscarriages and the death of newborns, motivated by envy for what she could never have.
02:31She was once human and could not forget a child, for she was infertile.
02:37Some say she is the same as the geek Medusa, that she is Medusa's head turned into a demon.
02:44But this is likely not so, as they share no similarities, except that sometimes Obazuth
02:51appears with a head full of snakes or other serpentine features, similar to a gorgon.
02:57But as she said, she is a spirit capable of many forms.
03:02And Solomon asked her, saying, Where is your residence, Obazuth?
03:08And she answered, Here and there do I roam, and like the sun, from the east to the west
03:16do I go my rounds.
03:18But, as it is now, you have sealed me with the ring of God, yet, you can do nothing.
03:25I stand bound before you, but you will not be able to command me, for I have no work,
03:31other than the destruction of children, the making their ears to be deaf, and the working
03:37of evil to their eyes, the binding of their mouths and tongues with a bond, so they shall
03:43not speak, the ruining of their minds, and the affliction of pain in their bodies.
03:50I can be of no other service.
03:53When Solomon heard this, he again slowly beheld this demon, and marveled at her appearance.
04:00Her lower body was nowhere to be seen, it was hidden by the darkness, or perhaps she
04:06had none.
04:07Her voice was clear, her eyes were bright and shiny, and her long but unkempt hair was tossed
04:14wildly, like that of a dragon.
04:17And he said to her, Tell me by what angel you are frustrated, O evil spirit.
04:23And the demon answered, By the angel of God, called Afarot, who is better known to men,
04:30as Raphael.
04:32It is he who frustrates me, now and for all time.
04:37If his name be written on a woman in childbirth, then I shall not be able to enter her and
04:43harm
04:43her child.
04:45Having heard this, Solomon sealed Obazuth, and ordered her hair to be bound, and that
04:52she be hung up in front of the temple of God, so that all the children of Israel may see
04:57her as they passed, and glorify the Lord God of Israel, who had saved them from this evil,
05:04evil.
05:04By the authority, wisdom, and power he had given to Solomon their king.
05:16His heart.
05:23The Savior it was the only one, and that he would have saved him before the angel of God.
05:23So, you know that he is still alive.
05:23This is his heart.
05:24When he had changed his heart.
05:24He is the one, he's the one, and that he gives you the one.
05:40You
