00:30For some people, a single arm is a robot.
00:33For other people, the train that gets you from one terminal to the other at the airport is a robot.
00:42It is always, I think, really important to remind ourselves that different from, say, a human or a cat or
00:49a dog,
00:50the concept of robot is a really, really wide and broad one.
01:13There's this spectrum between autonomy and then people deeply in the loop controlling the robot.
01:19And in between, you have various forms of shared control and human-robot interaction.
01:25And I think the key is going to be to understand where along that spectrum we want to be.
01:33If you can transfer your consciousness from a human body to a computer,
01:38then you might be able to exceed the expiration date of a human life.
01:47In Japan, our population is going down half of a current population.
01:52But still we want to keep a void of life.
01:56So the solution is to use more robots.
02:00So robots will save us.
02:08Probably any self-respecting AI researcher is going to go,
02:13no, I would never soil my good name with that.
02:17Well, my name's already pretty soiled.
02:22Yeah, she works.
02:25Algorithms are trained on data sets
02:27and are learning from the data without any provision
02:32as to whether the outcome is a desirable or non-desirable outcome.
02:41I think every technology can potentially have negative effects.
02:47It's up to us to making sure that those technologies don't go out of control.
02:53But I really think the problem is, it's us.
