00:00Nearly every year when Cube releases its new range of bikes, we ask the question,
00:04are these the best value road and gravel bikes on the market? Well, they've just revealed their
00:092027 range and there's some rather interesting bikes to look at. So let's take a closer look.
00:15For those of you who don't know, Cube is a German brand that was founded in 1993
00:20and unlike many big bike brands, it's still privately owned. It's also way,
00:25way bigger than many people think, producing over 1.2 million bikes per year and has over 400 bikes
00:32in its range. We're not going to look at all of them today, but I have chosen some that I
00:37think
00:38could make excellent choices for your next road or gravel bike. I'm going to kick off with this one,
00:43the all new Lightning Aero C68X, which Team Total Energies have been using ahead of its release
00:49at this year's Tour de France. So what specs do you need to know? Well,
00:54this bike has everything that you might expect from a Tour de France level bike.
00:58In its lightest guise, it weighs under seven kilos. This Durace build weighs 7.1 kilos,
01:05not bad for an aero bike. It also comes with a power meter as standard, the deepest handlebar
01:10I think I have ever seen fitted to a road bike. And take a look at these Newman wheels. They've
01:16got
01:16carbon fiber bladed spokes and valves that are hidden in the rim. The most surprising thing about this bike
01:22though is that it costs less than the range-topping bike last year. The price? £7,499. Yes, I know
01:31that
01:31that is still a huge amount of money, but it is quite literally half the price of many of the
01:37flagship
01:37bikes this was up against at this year's Tour de France. Half. In fact, by my maths, this is the
01:43cheapest
01:44bike currently being raced in the professional peloton. And it's hard to see where they've made any
01:48compromises. Now, before we get onto this one over here, let's talk about the Attain. That's the
01:55German brand's endurance come club and training bike. And I know a lot of people will be very
02:00happy to hear that this one has mudguard mounts. The Attain is available either as a carbon version,
02:06the C62, with that number referring to the percentage of actual carbon in the carbon fiber.
02:13That's high by the way, but not as high as the C68 carbon that's been used on this bike. Or
02:18there's
02:18also an aluminium Attain, which now has hydraulic disc brakes as standard through the whole range.
02:24For 2027, there's some welcome updates. All of the carbon bikes now come with carbon wheels.
02:28There's also carbon cockpits lower down the range than ever before. And they've still got space for
02:34up to 36 mil tyres. There is, of course, loads of spec options to suit a range of budgets, but
02:40I've
02:41pulled out some of my favourites. How about this Attain C62 race with a carbon frame, carbon wheels,
02:47Shimano's 2x12 speed 105 groupset under £2,000? Let me know if you can think of a carbon bike at
02:56RRP
02:56that can beat that down in the comments below. Another one worth drawing your attention to is
03:01the slightly higher spec C62 SLX, because that also gets the Newman carbon wheels, but it benefits from
03:09an integrated cockpit and electronic shifting with 105 Di2 for an extra 500 quid. Oh, and it weighs just
03:177.6 kilos. And another thing, they all now come with Schwalbe click valves, something I'm very happy
03:23about because I've been banging on about them for years. So it's nice to see a brand actually roll
03:28it out across their range. Right, we've got the new Lightning Aero for racing. We've got the Lightning
03:35Air for if you want something to win a way off. And the Attain for training and endurance rides.
03:41Cube then also makes this. This is the brand new Agree, which sort of sits somewhere in the middle.
03:47Think of it as a race bike designed for us rather than for the pros. This is the top spec
03:54dual race equipped model. And just like the top spec Attain models, it also has the C62 carbon
04:00layout. However, it is lighter, stiffer and higher performing than ever before. And of course,
04:06being a Cube, you still get loads of lovely nice to haves as well. You get carbon spokes,
04:12carbon integrated cockpit, you get a power meter, you get 30 mil continental
04:17Grand Prix 5000 STR tires, which if more bikes came with those, then I would save myself a lot
04:24of cash. As you can see, you can also fit very clever luggage solutions. So you can put a power
04:31pack or some extra nutrition or something in there. I'm going to assume that's pretty aero storage,
04:37although I haven't tested that. The updated version now also gets UDH at the rear. And just
04:44like the Attain's, you also get Schwab Clickbrows as standard. But what do you think about this paint
04:50job? Let me know if you like it down in the comments below. The final bike or should I say
04:56bikes that I
04:56want to cover sit in the new road category, which is the name that Cube gives its gravel bikes. Just
05:02like with the road bikes, every C62 carbon frame bike from the EXC upwards now also comes with an
05:08integrated carbon cockpit and carbon wheel set. Speaking of which, take a look at the wheels
05:14on this top spec new road C62 SLT. Not only does it have a SRAM RED AXS 64 1x13 speed
05:22groupset,
05:22but it also gets these brand new Newman Stream G62 Vanilla carbon wheels. They are super deep,
05:30and the specs rival far, far more expensive wheels. 62 mil deep, a whopping 45 mil wide,
05:37and they're still weight just over 1500 grams. I really want to get my hands on a set of these,
05:42go and give them a try. With most of the tech I want to try, it is way out of
05:47my price range,
05:48but this no holes barred bike will set you back £6,499. Still a lot of money, still probably out
05:55of
05:55my price range, but there is a whole range of new road spec options suit a variety of budgets,
06:01so you can check all of them out on the Cube website. We'll pop a link to that in the
06:05description
06:05below. So, what do you think of Cube's 2027 range, and are these some of the best priced bikes
06:11of 2026? Let me know in the comments, make sure you subscribe to the channel for lots more bike tech,
06:17and we'll see you next time.
