00:02Waterproof Marine VHF radios every boater needs
00:04and I dug through thousands of sold units to find the ones people actually keep
00:095 picks, from a $43 backup to a full GPS floater
00:14Some surprises in here, including one item that isn't a radio at all
00:18Stay with me
00:20First up, ICM-25 Marine Walkie-Talkie, 5W, 5km claimed range, waterproof handheld transceiver
00:28The feature that matters is the 5W output that's real marine transmit power, not toy walkie-talkie
00:34stuff, and it fits in a glove box
00:3759-58, 4.7 stars, nearly 5,000 sold
00:41Best all-round starter radio on this list
00:45Now, this one's not a radio, it's the 12V RS-232 and MA-0183 GPS antenna receiver
00:51Garmin GPS-17, SMAP, Raymarine, Lawrence-compatible, 4,800 baud
00:57Best feature, it feeds position data straight into your existing chart plotter over NMA-0183
01:03And that's how you get GPS on an older boat for under $30
01:0726-30, perfect 5 stars, 49-35 sold
01:12If your display is already there but blind, this wakes it up
01:15Product 3, ICM-25 VHF Marine Radio, 5W Portable Handheld Wireless Communicator for Boat, Outdoor and Emergency
01:25Same ICM-25 body, same 5W punch, but this listing runs 4502 with a clean 5.0 from 4924 buyers
01:33Why it's worth buying, identical radio, $14 less than number 1
01:39If you want two radios on board, buy a pair of these
01:43Product 4, Wishcolor ICM-25, VHF Marine Radio, 5km, 5W, Waterproof Handheld Transceiver for ICOM
01:52Best feature here is price, $4332, 4.7 stars, $4808 sold
01:58Cheapest ICM-25 on the list
02:01Honestly, at this point they're all the same radio, so pick whichever listing you trust and save the cash for
02:06a spare battery
02:07Note, product 2 equals GPS antenna receiver, not VHF radio
02:12Script says so
