00:00Two toys, same shelf, very different lessons
00:03I pulled the best deal wooden number trains and a set of counting sticks, put them side by side, and
00:08tested which one actually teaches math
00:11Spoiler, they teach different things
00:14First up, the magnetic digital wooden train at $6.47
00:19Cheapest option here and still holding a 4.9 rating across nearly 4,800 sales
00:25The magnet on the back of every carriage is the magic bit, it snaps to the fridge, the bathtub, any
00:31metal surface, and suddenly your kit is loading and unloading numbers instead of watching you scroll
00:36Counting sticks teach one-to-one, this teaches sequencing on a moving track
00:41This Montessori train kit runs $8.13, rated 4.4 from over 4,500 buyers
00:48It leans hard into structured learning, numbered carriage as you line up in order, aimed at early cognition
00:54Fair warning, 4.4 is the lowest rating of the 5, so check reviews if paint finish or rattle bothers
01:00you
01:01For a kid who likes a worksheet with wheels, it does the job
01:05Now the $8.59 train, the top-rated one here at a perfect 5.0 from 3,800 plus sales
01:13Nothing subtle about it, colorful magnetic carriages, chunky building blocks, same fridge stick trick, and the building itself is the
01:20lesson
01:21Fine motor work, hand-eye coordination, matching digit to quantity
01:25Compared to plain counting sticks, it's the same counting, just louder and more colorful
01:31Then there's the logical brain development set at $8.50, 4.8 across 3,200 sales
01:38This one shifts the focus from color and magnets to logical progression
01:43Kids sort, order, and connect numbers to outcomes, pattern thinking, which is the step right before real arithmetic
01:49If your kid is past the counting to 10 stage and needs to see why 3 plus 2 makes 5,
01:54this is the train that fits
01:56Last, the smart train set at $7.94, another 5.0 rating across about 2,900 sales
02:04Sold as an early childhood teaching aid set, and that's accurate, multiple numbered pieces, a couple of carriage styles, a
02:11layout that invites kids to build their own track puzzle
02:14Great mid-priced pick for a gift bag, a classroom, or a second set for a sibling
02:19Both winners, and all 5 links are in the description
02:23If one actually helped your kid get numbers, hit like and subscribe, I'll test the next round too
