00:00:02Hey everyone, um, today's video is just going to be a little look through some of my, uh, CD's.
00:00:25These are some of my older CDs.
00:00:34I recently, um, went down to Wales
00:00:45to visit my mother and to, um, go to the dentist and, uh,
00:01:02get my eyes tested and some, uh, new glasses.
00:01:11And whilst I was home, I collected some of my things, including, um, some of my, uh, childhood toys
00:01:26and also some kind of, still kind of childish, I guess, but, um, action figure models.
00:01:37You can call them toys that I kind of blew some of my student loan on while I was at
00:01:44university.
00:01:44So, I'll be showing them in some, uh, later videos.
00:01:54But, uh, for today, I thought I'd take a look at some of the CDs that I brought back.
00:02:03I don't, um, buy CDs very often anymore or at all, really.
00:02:11I, uh, tend to, uh, download music from YouTube, uh, not YouTube, from iTunes.
00:02:19I went through a stage of pirating music, um, which I know is really common these days
00:02:28and normal, but the only reason I really did it is because I wanted to enjoy new music
00:02:36but couldn't afford it.
00:02:38But now I've kind of got a steady job and I'm a bit older.
00:02:41Uh, I just kind of learn to live within my means and treat myself to some music
00:02:47when I've got, like, cash spare to buy some.
00:02:52Um, yeah, I really don't want to steal music because it really hurts the artists.
00:03:01Okay, anyway, let's get started.
00:03:03So, this one is, uh, the Burst Cox, uh, singles, Going Steady.
00:03:11I really like this band.
00:03:16Um, this is a really good compilation.
00:03:24Um, I think they either changed vocalists later on or the vocalist just got older
00:03:32and his voice changed, but I prefer their earlier sound
00:03:38with a more, uh, kind of glam rock sounding, uh, vocalist.
00:03:49Um, As I Lay Dying, Shadows Are Security.
00:03:55Uh, like this album, too.
00:03:58Um, it's, it's a good album.
00:04:05It's not one of the best albums.
00:04:08Um, I'm not religious, but there are a couple of Christian bands that I like listening to.
00:04:15As I Lay Dying are one of them.
00:04:17Um, if you're kind of into your, um, metal music at all, or just watch every kind of news, you'll
00:04:29probably have seen that, uh, uh, Tim Lameses, the lead vocalist, um, got arrested and sentenced,
00:04:45found guilty and sent to prison for the attempted assassination of his wife.
00:04:53He tried to hire a hitman to kill his, um, ex-wife because he thought she was gonna try and
00:04:59take his children away.
00:05:01Yeah, so, it's kind of, uh, I mean, the music's still good, but that's pretty heinous.
00:05:09Uh, this is, uh, Roadrunner United, The All-Star Sessions.
00:05:16This was, uh, um, double CD that was released by Roadrunner Records that has all of their artists collaborating,
00:05:27so there's no real set bands because different members of different bands have collaborated on all the different tracks.
00:05:34It's really good album, actually. It's, uh, really good album.
00:05:39It's all kind of metal music, some slightly more, uh, rock style, and one even punky style track with Michael
00:05:51Graves,
00:05:52who was the later, uh, vocalist for The Misfits after Danzig and before Jerry only decided he could sing, which
00:06:02he can't.
00:06:03Uh, that's the punky track on there. That's a good album.
00:06:08Um, Samhain. I said Samhain. Samhain. I can't remember the proper way to pronounce Samhain.
00:06:18Uh, Samhain. I think it's Samhain. It's a pagan holiday.
00:06:23Uh, this is Danzig's second band after he left The Misfits.
00:06:32He started Samhain before going on to be in his, uh, band Danzig named after himself.
00:06:46This is kind of, um, um, you got, um, The Misfits, which were, like, horror punk, and then they got
00:06:55kind of more lighthearted and comical with their, um, horror style of punk.
00:07:02And I think that's when, um, Danzig decided he wanted to leave because he thought it was kind of jokey
00:07:10and not serious enough.
00:07:11So, Samhain is a kind of more serious kind of horror punk band. I wouldn't call them horror punk, though.
00:07:20I'd call them more, um, gothic punk.
00:07:25Uh, Big Destroyer. Um, Phantom Limb. This album is, it's really full on. It's really fast. It's really loud. It's
00:07:38really aggressive.
00:07:39But, I mean, Big Destroyer, probably one of the best, um, grindcore bands in the world. Um, awesome, awesome band.
00:07:56And this album was really good, too. I think, what does it say? Uh, Karen liked it. I don't think
00:08:03that really matters.
00:08:04Uh, AP said, one of the 25 most important bands in metal. It's a bold claim. I don't know about
00:08:12that, but this album is, it's really good.
00:08:16Uh, really, really good. If you're in the mood for it, sometimes it's just a bit too much for me.
00:08:24Um, this is The Fall of Troy. Um, if any of you are into, uh, Guitar Hero,
00:08:32you'll recognize them from Guitar Hero 3, I think. Um, I don't actually, I think this might just be the
00:08:48self-titled album.
00:08:49Um, this is, um, actually the remixes album. They re-recorded a bunch of tracks from the original album.
00:08:59They kind of sped them up, made them more commercialized, I think. Um, this is a repress. It's not an
00:09:06original.
00:09:11It's kind of a, uh, a technical screamo. Progressive band. Uh, Joy Division. This is, uh, 1977 to 1980, uh,
00:09:24compilation.
00:09:26Joy Division. Joy Division band out of Manchester. They had really stripped back, uh, basic sound, but it was,
00:09:34kind of, really progressive sound. Uh, uh, uh, I don't know about progressive, but it just, it was,
00:09:40I found their music quite haunting. It was really attractive. So this has got a nice, um, collection of songs,
00:09:50different styles. Uh, Dead Souls, which got covered for the Crow soundtrack.
00:09:59I don't know if any of you are old enough to remember the Crow.
00:10:03War Saw is one of my favorite, uh, Joy Division songs. It's quite, uh, it's, well, it's really punk
00:10:11compared to most of their songs. Love will tear us apart. If you don't know that, then I don't know
00:10:19what the hell is wrong with the world.
00:10:29Um, this one is getting kind of bleached out by the light. Let me just put this down a bit.
00:10:42Yeah, that's better. I didn't realize quite how ridiculous the lighting was.
00:10:46Okay? Well, better late than never. This is an album, The Tiger and the Duke, by The Sound of Animals
00:10:57Fighting.
00:10:59They're, um, an anonymous, uh, group. They're all artists from bands that assigned to different record labels,
00:11:12so they weren't allowed to use their real names when they made these albums.
00:11:17Even though it's obvious who they are from the sounds of their voices, but there's nothing on paper to say
00:11:24who they are
00:11:24because their record labels were kind of dicks about them trying to collaborate with people from rival, uh, labels.
00:11:32The music by The Sound of Animals Fighting. The actual tracks are amazing, they're really progressive, technical, inventive, they've got
00:11:41really nice melodies,
00:11:42very nice harmonies, but, um, their interludes are so fucking pretentious that when they come on to my, uh, music
00:12:00player,
00:12:01I just feel like deleting the whole lot from my music player because it's so annoying.
00:12:05I mean, it's got, um, an overture, a track, an interlude, a track, an interlude, a track, an interlude,
00:12:12and I know it's supposed to be like a story that they're trying to tell and construct something original in,
00:12:18um, album making and songwriting,
00:12:22but the interlude stuff is just so pretentious, it's ridiculous. I don't need that, the fact that it's so pretentious
00:12:30makes me think that maybe it's ironically so.
00:12:36Um, um, um, so, this is, um, an album by a band called Zayo, I think it's pronounced Zayo, Z
00:12:47-A-O, Zayo.
00:12:49This one is, uh, Parade of Chaos. Really like this band, uh, they're like a post-hardcore, um, yeah, they're
00:12:59like a post-hardcore metal band.
00:13:00They're a Christian band again. I think I've got all their albums, unless they've released another one in the last
00:13:07couple of years.
00:13:08And if they have, I'll have to check it out and maybe get it.
00:13:11Again, I'm not a religious person. I'm not, uh, a particular believer in anything other than human kindness.
00:13:22But, really good band, really good style. Uh, vocalists have got a really unique style.
00:13:34Uh, this is the, um, Aquatine Hunger Force,
00:13:46Colon movie film for theaters soundtrack.
00:13:52This is the official soundtrack for the movie for Aquatine Hunger Force, uh,
00:14:00which is a cartoon that is on Adult Swim.
00:14:05Um, uh, I just bought it because I was really into Aquatine Hunger Force back in the day.
00:14:14Uh, it's got a good track by, um, Mastodon.
00:14:19Um, there's some really, like, funny skits and stuff.
00:14:25Um, oh, I didn't realize there's a killer mic track on there.
00:14:30I'll have to give that a listen again.
00:14:33Um, MC Chris is on it.
00:14:35It's got funny, nerdy lyrics.
00:14:38Uh, Andrew WK.
00:14:40Just a ridiculous track.
00:14:42Yeah, it's quite fun.
00:14:44Um, this is, um, another album by Fall of Troy.
00:14:54This one's Manipulator.
00:14:56Um, what's on this one?
00:14:58Cut down all of the trees and name the streets after them.
00:15:02Um, a semi-fiction of the casino.
00:15:08A man of the planet.
00:15:10Shh, if you're quiet, I'll show you a dinosaur.
00:15:13So, yeah, this one's a good one.
00:15:15This is, um, that album I showed you earlier was them getting a taste of success
00:15:23and then re-releasing some of their tracks how the label wanted them.
00:15:27I had to try and continue that success.
00:15:31And then when they were established and didn't have to kind of bend to the will of their label,
00:15:37they made this album, which was more kind of what they were invested in.
00:15:42And more of a direction that they kind of wanted to head in rather than doing the same thing.
00:15:49The Best of Pantera.
00:15:52Still a really good album.
00:15:54Like, um, my mood changes about, um, Pantera.
00:15:58The one thing that always stays the same is their talented musicians.
00:16:04Uh, time back, Daryl's obviously dead now, but, um, so they were talented musicians.
00:16:12There's some really great tracks on this, really great sound.
00:16:16Um, they released their music and their songs at a time where they were really,
00:16:24they were kind of a voice for a lot of people that were unhappy with the way,
00:16:31with the hand they'd be dealt in life by their government and by their own people.
00:16:37And this was just kind of like a good social, well, not this, this is a compilation,
00:16:42but the band had a good social commentary.
00:16:45Much kind of like Metallica did when they, um, became successful initially.
00:16:51They were kind of a voice of a generation.
00:16:54So, sometimes I find it a bit juvenile, but I need to, you kind of need to remember that
00:17:01it, it's an, it's, they're a band of a period where, um, they were, they were significant
00:17:09and what they were saying was significant.
00:17:14Uh, Sam Hame's first album.
00:17:17I said Sam Hame again.
00:17:21Sam Hame's first album in this jam.
00:17:24Uh, good album, good tracks on this.
00:17:28All Murder, All Guts, All Fun, Black Dream.
00:17:32Um, they're actually the two best ones.
00:17:36Um, Archangel is good too.
00:17:41Yeah, they're probably the best tracks on that album.
00:17:44I don't like Horror Biz because Horror Business by the Misfits is way better.
00:17:53Next is The Sounds of Animals Fighting again.
00:17:57Lover, The Lord Has Left Us.
00:18:00If I'm, yeah, this one is, this one's just got like one good track on it
00:18:07and then they just play it differently a bunch of times and have some super, super pretentious stuff on it.
00:18:14That's my least favourite, The Sound of Animals Fighting album.
00:18:17It really annoys me how pretentious it is at times.
00:18:21Fall of Troy, uh, Doppelganger.
00:18:26Oh, sorry, that original, um, Fall of Troy album.
00:18:31The first one I showed you was the original album.
00:18:34This one is the one where they, uh, well, it's called Doppelganger
00:18:38because it's just the same tracks they already released but kind of sped up and more commercialised.
00:18:47Um, still they always have like kind of cool artwork on their albums.
00:18:54I like their artwork, uh, like their music.
00:18:57Uh, I don't, they're probably still going and they've probably had like three or four albums since then.
00:19:03So they're quite old now.
00:19:06Uh, Danzig, uh, Thrall Demon Sweat Life.
00:19:10Uh, this is an important album for Danzig fans, uh, not because of, uh, any kind of innovations or anything
00:19:20like that.
00:19:20Uh, these are, um, just live tracks.
00:19:25There's only, uh, well, they're seven tracks total.
00:19:28But basically, um, there he is looking ripped and in good condition.
00:19:33Basically, Danzig, um, just didn't look after himself at all.
00:19:38Uh, he's not a healthy guy.
00:19:41He didn't look after his voice.
00:19:43And, consequently, he's fucking garbage to see live.
00:19:48I was like one of his biggest fans, not biggest fans, but I was a really big fan of his.
00:19:54Um, I went to see him live in Amsterdam a couple years back and his voice is just blown out.
00:20:02His vocal cords are just blown out.
00:20:04He can't sing loudly.
00:20:05He can't, he's got no dynamic range whatsoever.
00:20:10He's just, um, he's fucked basically.
00:20:14He can't sing anymore.
00:20:16So this album is important because these are basically seven of the best live performances by him in his career
00:20:24back before his vocals were blown out.
00:20:27So, um, Sistenas on this album is probably his strongest work vocally in his entire career, I'd say.
00:20:38So, uh, good album, if you're a fan of Danzig.
00:20:48Um, this is, uh, mishap.
00:20:52This is a hardcore band from Manchester that our scene effects get like, fuck you.
00:21:02Um, close-capped enemy.
00:21:05Yeah.
00:21:05If you can't tell that this is a hardcore band, then you probably don't really know much about hardcore.
00:21:13But yeah, they, um, I think they're really mediocre.
00:21:17I think I just got given that when I went to a gig with a friend.
00:21:19Didn't even really want to go.
00:21:22Um, not that I don't like hardcore music.
00:21:25It's just a lot of trash in hardcore music.
00:21:28Because it was like the most hipster fucking scene in the world for a couple of years.
00:21:36In the like, late, mid to late thousands.
00:21:39Two thousands.
00:21:41Uh, single digit, I guess.
00:21:43Anyway, um, Misfits.
00:21:46Which one's this?
00:21:47I don't think it's, I think it's just self-titled.
00:21:50Misfits is, or is it, this might be called Plan 9.
00:21:57What can you say about the Misfits?
00:21:59Great band.
00:22:00Uh, really good tracks.
00:22:05Again, trash now.
00:22:07Just deteriorated.
00:22:10Ever since, uh, Danzig left.
00:22:12And then they got Michael Graves in.
00:22:14And they got a new kind of style.
00:22:18It was similar, but unique.
00:22:21And then Michael Graves.
00:22:22I don't know why, but he left.
00:22:24And then Jerry Only.
00:22:25Probably because of Jerry Only.
00:22:28Um, and now they're just a joke.
00:22:30They're almost like a tribute band of themselves.
00:22:35Machine Head, uh, Through the Ashes of Empires.
00:22:40Sweet album.
00:22:42Imperium by the Bullet.
00:22:44Elegy.
00:22:45Uh, Days Turned Blue to Grey.
00:22:49Anyone who likes, um, Machine Head will have this album.
00:22:53One of their best albums.
00:23:00Cool guy.
00:23:01Was cool.
00:23:03Danzig's second album.
00:23:05Lucifuge.
00:23:06Um, sick album.
00:23:11Blood and Tears.
00:23:12It was amazing.
00:23:14Like, for a long time, I told my friends that when I die, make sure they play Blood and Tears
00:23:21at my funeral.
00:23:22Um, or Tired of Being Alive, but maybe not now.
00:23:28Um, yeah.
00:23:32So many classics.
00:23:34Long Way Back From Hell, classic.
00:23:36Killer Wolf, classic.
00:23:38Tired of Being Alive, classic.
00:23:40Devil's Plaything, classic.
00:23:43777, classic.
00:23:45Blood and Tears, classic.
00:23:48Sweet album.
00:23:50Back when he still had it.
00:23:57Outbreak.
00:23:57Hardcore band from the US.
00:24:01This album, Failure, is exactly what it is.
00:24:05It's just fucking...
00:24:08The less we talk about that, the better.
00:24:10A band that had just one of the best hardcore debut albums going.
00:24:20It was like, instant classic.
00:24:23And then they followed it up with that.
00:24:25Which is just...
00:24:26Sorry about that.
00:24:27My battery died.
00:24:28But I got my new battery back, so I just switched it out for another pack.
00:24:34Okay.
00:24:37Danzig Five.
00:24:38Oh God.
00:24:39Black as a Devil.
00:24:41This is an album where Danzig tried to make an industrial album.
00:24:51Probably his worst album.
00:24:55I'll cut that out.
00:24:57Don't worry.
00:24:58Probably his worst album.
00:25:05Danzig's eighth album.
00:25:08Circle of Snakes.
00:25:11He got really goth.
00:25:13He just went really goth with this album.
00:25:16And I'm not really a goth fan.
00:25:19It's got some good tracks on it.
00:25:21It's got some aggressive tracks on it.
00:25:22But...
00:25:23Yeah.
00:25:25I mean...
00:25:25He kind of fell off after his fourth album.
00:25:33Decapitated.
00:25:34Organic hallucinations.
00:25:36Oh no.
00:25:37Sorry.
00:25:37Hallucinosis.
00:25:38Organic hallucinosis.
00:25:44Just...
00:25:46If you want to know...
00:25:47How to use double bass pedals in metal music.
00:25:53Listen to Decapitated.
00:25:56Their drummer just...
00:25:57Is the king of double bass pedals.
00:26:01Really heavy.
00:26:03Heavy metal.
00:26:05Black Flag.
00:26:07The first four years.
00:26:08This is pretty much my favourite Black Flag album.
00:26:12I'm not a huge Henry Rollins fan, to be honest.
00:26:16I don't like what he did with the band.
00:26:19He just seemed to use the band as a tool to rip the piss out of people in other bands.
00:26:29Or in politics that he didn't like.
00:26:32And he was just kind of a douche about it.
00:26:35Descadina.
00:26:37Vocalist.
00:26:39Which one is it?
00:26:41I'm trying to...
00:26:42Is it Keith?
00:26:43I think it might be Keith Morris.
00:26:44Hang on.
00:26:46One to four.
00:26:48Yeah.
00:26:50Keith Morris was, in my opinion, the best vocalist in Black Flag.
00:26:57He had a real proper punk style vocal.
00:27:02He went on to be in the band Circle Jerks.
00:27:09Much better than Rollins, in my humble opinion.
00:27:17The Clash.
00:27:19This singles album is just kind of, you know, all the more famous tracks by them.
00:27:26You know, sometimes I'm in the mood for The Clash and other times I'm really...
00:27:30Um, I'm not.
00:27:33Um, my brother bought me this album, like, when I was a young teenager.
00:27:38I still love this album today.
00:27:42Um...
00:27:43The Offspring.

00:28:47Um...
00:28:49I don't really like it.
00:28:50His album does have Cisternas on it, which is, like, probably is one of his best tracks.
00:29:00I got this out of a parking bin in the HMV Chimera.
00:29:07I don't like any of the tracks.
00:29:10I think the only one that I like out of all 13 is, um, I think it's Implements of Destruction.
00:29:23And, um, it's kind of got quite a Metallica sound to it anyway, so it's not really that original, but,
00:29:29yeah.
00:29:31Um, the artwork for this is better than the album.
00:29:35Um, Danzig again, sixth album, 666, Satan's Child.
00:29:41He really, um, the thing is about Danzig is he released his first album, and this was back when the
00:29:53U.S. press were borderline retarded.
00:29:57And they, kind of, were saying that this guy's a devil worshipper and he's corrupting children.
00:30:08And, for Danzig, that was his ticket to, like, really play on that and build up his, kind of, alternative
00:30:14popularity by being anti-mainstream.
00:30:18But then when the press and when people realised musicians aren't corrupting people's minds and they aren't evil,
00:30:27they stopped really caring about whether Danzig was evil or not, uncorruptive.
00:30:34And, uh, he didn't really figure that out and carried on with it to this day, thinking he's some sort
00:30:42of icon of corruption and liberation for young minds.
00:30:48And he just, kind of, went on this whole, like, satanic buzz saying that Lucifer was an angel and he
00:30:55was from heaven.
00:30:56And it's like, yeah, well, anyone that, like, knows anything about the Bible or Christianity already knows that.
00:31:04And, I don't know, he just ran with that whole theme for so long.
00:31:11And it just wasn't really interesting and it didn't really have any depth and he should have just concentrated on
00:31:18making music instead of his image.
00:31:21Ted Kennedy's Fresh Fruit for Rotting Corpses.
00:31:26Sorry, Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables.
00:31:30This is just a, I'm pretty, this is just a compilation album, I think.
00:31:39Is there a DVD, if I can't remember?
00:31:42Um, yeah, sometimes I'm really like this band and other times I don't.
00:31:49The vocalists have a really, kind of, annoying voice and sometimes it's really cool and other times it's really annoying.
00:31:57Um, and, like, you hear some stories about the Dead Kennedys.
00:32:01They used to talk shit about a lot of other punk bands at the time for being sellouts and you
00:32:07think that's really cool that he's having a go at people for being sellouts and things like that.
00:32:14But a lot of people in the punk scene at the time said that he was just pissed off because
00:32:20he wasn't making as much money as they were.
00:32:22And he wanted that commercial success but wasn't getting any and that's the real reason he was moaning and bitching
00:32:29at these guys and his music.
00:32:31But, you know, it wasn't just one person claiming that, you know, a lot of people in that scene at
00:32:39that time say the same thing.
00:32:41So, it makes you wonder if he's not just some jealous asshole.
00:32:48Sometimes I like the band, sometimes the voice gets on my nerves.
00:32:53The Rapture, uh, Out of the Races and Onto the Tracks.
00:32:57Kind of like an experimental indie band.
00:33:01Cool.
00:33:01This is like their first EP, I think.
00:33:05I don't know what they've...
00:33:06They did do another album, I think I've got it.
00:33:08I think I've downloaded that one.
00:33:11Um, yeah, experimental indie band.
00:33:15Um, yeah, I like those guys.
00:33:19I like their sound.
00:33:20It's not your typical indie music.
00:33:24Uh, All Shall Perish.
00:33:26Uh, The Price of Existence.
00:33:29This is just, uh...
00:33:31Like, uh...
00:33:34Pfft.
00:33:37Grindcore, uh, Technical Death Metal band.
00:33:42Um, they've got some really good riffs and stuff.
00:33:47And then I went to see them live and they're just a bunch of, like,
00:33:52inbred meatheads.
00:33:53Just scene guys.
00:33:55So, I was a big guy that they were just all these, like,
00:33:58stupid meathead scene-sters.
00:34:01Um,
00:34:04still got some good
00:34:06riffs and stuff, but
00:34:08the content is really shallow.
00:34:10It's just typical death metal.
00:34:12Just,
00:34:14yeah.
00:34:14Anyway,
00:34:16Interpol,
00:34:17Antics,
00:34:18classic album.
00:34:19Um, I think this might be their debut album.
00:34:23Um,
00:34:24obviously they'll have had EPs and stuff before, but I think this is their first major release album.
00:34:30Really good album.
00:34:31Um, they went on to make lots more great albums.
00:34:34I like them.
00:34:36I like them.
00:34:36They've got a nice, nice soul feel to their music.
00:34:41Uh, not actual soul, uh, as in the genre.
00:34:46Just like,
00:34:47soulful.
00:34:49I guess is what I'm trying to say.
00:34:51Ah,
00:34:52the best of Black Sabbath.
00:34:54Gotta have this album.
00:34:57Brilliant.
00:34:59Loads of awesome tracks.
00:35:01Iron Man,
00:35:02The Wizard,
00:35:02Black Sabbath,
00:35:04Evil,
00:35:04just,
00:35:05all amazing tracks.
00:35:07And there's so many on there as well.
00:35:14Dreamboats and Petticoats.
00:35:16This is, uh,
00:35:17two-disc,
00:35:1852 tracks,
00:35:20of, uh,
00:35:21kind of,
00:35:2150s, 60s style,
00:35:24uh,
00:35:26rock and roll,
00:35:27uh,
00:35:28bluesy rock and roll music.
00:35:30Bill Haley and the Comets,
00:35:33old school Cliff Richard,
00:35:35before he went super Christian.
00:35:38Bobby V,
00:35:39Brenda Lee,
00:35:40Skeeter Davis,
00:35:41The Everly Brothers,
00:35:43uh,
00:35:44Mark Winter,
00:35:46uh,
00:35:46Johnny Ray,
00:35:47Roy Orbison,
00:35:49Buddy Holly,
00:35:49Billy Fury's on here a couple of times.
00:35:52Sweet compilation album if you wanna,
00:35:54like,
00:35:55kind of,
00:35:55dip your toes into the world of,
00:35:57uh,
00:35:5950s and 60s,
00:36:00uh,
00:36:00rock,
00:36:01rock and roll.
00:36:03The Faceless,
00:36:05Akeldama.
00:36:06This is a,
00:36:08decent,
00:36:08technical death metal band,
00:36:10and, like,
00:36:11All Should Perish.
00:36:13They've got,
00:36:13like,
00:36:14this weird kind of Egyptian
00:36:16synthesizer vibe
00:36:17to go along with their
00:36:19super technical,
00:36:21uh,
00:36:22riffs.
00:36:23Really good album,
00:36:25really good band.
00:36:26Brought something fresh and innovative
00:36:28to the scene of technical death metal.
00:36:31Like em,
00:36:32like em,
00:36:33lads.
00:36:35As you can see,
00:36:36this is like,
00:36:36a lot of this is,
00:36:37um,
00:36:39like,
00:36:39metal and heavy music.
00:36:41I do like other music too,
00:36:43um,
00:36:45yeah,
00:36:46I do like other music too.
00:36:48I can't be bothered explaining.
00:36:49Um,
00:36:51The Lost Tracks of Danzig.
00:36:53This is just like,
00:36:54a double CD collection of
00:36:57previously unreleased material.
00:37:00Um,
00:37:01I got this as a birthday present
00:37:02from a
00:37:03housemate at university.
00:37:06Uh,
00:37:10yeah,
00:37:10there's some good help,
00:37:11there's some good tracks on here.
00:37:12Come to Syl for acoustic version.
00:37:15Um,
00:37:19Cold Cold Rain,
00:37:20Buick McCain.
00:37:22Uh,
00:37:27yeah,
00:37:27I mean,
00:37:28there's some good tracks on there.
00:37:29There's some tough ones too.
00:37:31There's definitely some good tracks on there.
00:37:34And it's a nice,
00:37:35uh,
00:37:36item if you're a collector.
00:37:38Okay,
00:37:39now I've got to try and reach the back row.
00:37:48I know these ones fell down earlier,
00:37:50so I'll grab these.
00:37:53Let's get this out of the way.
00:38:01Uh,
00:38:02set of main.
00:38:02This is The Final Descent.
00:38:06Um,
00:38:07I think this was the second album.
00:38:11Uh,
00:38:11it's a good album.
00:38:14Uh,
00:38:17Death In Its Arms,
00:38:21and Holy Passion.
00:38:24They're probably my
00:38:26two favourite tracks on that album.
00:38:35Crass.
00:38:37Um,
00:38:38so the next one is
00:38:41Penis Envy by Crass.
00:38:44Crass are pretty much one of
00:38:47the very few
00:38:50in the world
00:38:51genuine punk bands.
00:38:53It's one of
00:38:54one of very,
00:38:55very few genuine punk bands
00:38:57in the world.
00:38:58And when I say genuine punk,
00:39:00I mean
00:39:00a band that are politically motivated,
00:39:04who have, um,
00:39:06an anarchistic agenda,
00:39:08an anti-establishment agenda
00:39:11to break down
00:39:13to break down
00:39:14the, um,
00:39:17established rules
00:39:18in politics
00:39:19and government
00:39:20and just stand up
00:39:22against any kind of
00:39:23oppression or ignorance
00:39:27through music.
00:39:28they were never,
00:39:30they never made music
00:39:32to make money.
00:39:33They made music
00:39:35to try and unite people
00:39:38to fight against
00:39:41things that were wrong
00:39:43with the world.
00:39:44That's what punk
00:39:45was.
00:39:47And they never changed
00:39:49and they never gave that up.
00:39:51So they're a really important band
00:39:53in just musical
00:39:54and world history, really.
00:39:56Well, I guess musical history.
00:40:00Uh, Penis Envy
00:40:02is an album
00:40:03that doesn't feature
00:40:05their original male vocalist.
00:40:09He's on one track, I think.
00:40:12Um, Eva Libertine
00:40:13is the, uh,
00:40:15Eva Libertine
00:40:16is the vocalist
00:40:18on this album.
00:40:20And this album is just, uh,
00:40:22just, this album
00:40:23was released
00:40:25during a time
00:40:26when women were,
00:40:27like, dogs, basically.
00:40:29Women were able to vote
00:40:31and they, uh,
00:40:34they were able to work
00:40:35in the same places
00:40:36that men were
00:40:37but they were still
00:40:38getting treated like
00:40:39shit, basically.
00:40:41They were seen
00:40:42and perceived
00:40:43and treated like
00:40:44they weren't,
00:40:46they were animals.
00:40:47I mean, you can see
00:40:48from the imagery
00:40:48kind of what they were
00:40:49trying to say.
00:40:50So, this is like, um,
00:40:52a feminist album.
00:40:54It's a feminist movement album.
00:40:56You know, the Penis Envy,
00:40:59the name Penis Envy.
00:41:00It's just, uh,
00:41:03yeah, it's
00:41:07just an album
00:41:08that
00:41:11questions
00:41:12and fights
00:41:14the social
00:41:17standard
00:41:18at that time
00:41:19and
00:41:20in the hopes
00:41:21to unite people
00:41:23to
00:41:23challenge it
00:41:25along with them.
00:41:28Serious stuff.
00:41:31Uh, Animosity,
00:41:32our, uh,
00:41:33Grindcore,
00:41:34a technical Grindcore band,
00:41:35were,
00:41:36I think they released
00:41:37two albums
00:41:38and an EP
00:41:38and then split up
00:41:40because
00:41:41they were recording
00:41:43artists
00:41:43right when
00:41:44the scene
00:41:45was real scene
00:41:46and
00:41:46people were really
00:41:48cutthroat
00:41:48and shit-talking
00:41:50and trying to
00:41:50destroy each other's
00:41:51careers
00:41:52if they weren't
00:41:53kind of in
00:41:53with each other
00:41:54and they got sick
00:41:55of it
00:41:56and just pulled out
00:41:57and decided to do
00:41:58other things
00:41:59which is a shame
00:42:00because
00:42:00as far as, like,
00:42:02writing
00:42:03and, uh,
00:42:05instrumental
00:42:05ability
00:42:06goes,
00:42:08they're one of
00:42:08the best ones
00:42:09of the time.
00:42:10Really, really good.
00:42:12Heavy, super heavy,
00:42:14uh, super aggressive.
00:42:16Not completely
00:42:17high speed
00:42:18the whole time.
00:42:18Has brakes in it.
00:42:20It's just
00:42:22really good
00:42:23and
00:42:24gutted
00:42:25that they
00:42:26kind of
00:42:28didn't persevere
00:42:29through all the bullshit.
00:42:34Uh, the best of
00:42:35Buddy Holly.
00:42:36What else can you say?
00:42:38awesome tracks.
00:42:41Little bit sexist.
00:42:42Um,
00:42:44I kind of want to
00:42:45try and just
00:42:46forgive him
00:42:47for the time
00:42:48that he was recording.
00:42:49I guess that's
00:42:50kind of the way
00:42:50things were.
00:42:51And now you can
00:42:53enjoy it
00:42:53even though that,
00:42:55you know,
00:42:55you can enjoy it
00:42:56for its nostalgic feel
00:42:57and its musical
00:42:58styling
00:42:59and not kind of
00:43:04take the lyrics
00:43:05too seriously
00:43:06either
00:43:06or try to
00:43:08interpret them
00:43:08a different way
00:43:09to feel less offended
00:43:10because the music
00:43:11is awesome
00:43:13even if it is a bit
00:43:15sexist.
00:43:23grass, again,
00:43:25feeding of the
00:43:265,000
00:43:28with the
00:43:28original vocalist
00:43:30you can still
00:43:32find, um,
00:43:34there we go,
00:43:35your country needs you
00:43:36to die
00:43:36in a war
00:43:37that
00:43:38doesn't benefit
00:43:40the people
00:43:40whatsoever.
00:43:42the same
00:43:43could be said
00:43:43today.
00:43:44This album
00:43:44is as relevant
00:43:45today as it
00:43:46was when it
00:43:47was released.
00:43:49Um,
00:43:50it's about
00:43:50the government
00:43:51owing you,
00:43:53owing us
00:43:54a living.
00:43:56Uh,
00:43:59Punk is Dead,
00:44:01uh,
00:44:02General Bacardi
00:44:03as, you know,
00:44:07um,
00:44:09about the
00:44:09Cuban
00:44:10president.
00:44:11uh,
00:44:12banned from
00:44:13the Roxy.
00:44:14It's an awesome
00:44:14song.
00:44:15They got banned
00:44:15from the Roxy
00:44:16for their
00:44:16political statements
00:44:17which the Roxy
00:44:19was supposed to
00:44:20be, uh,
00:44:22the,
00:44:22the,
00:44:23the birthplace
00:44:24of, like,
00:44:26punk music
00:44:27and alternative
00:44:28music
00:44:29during the,
00:44:30kind of,
00:44:31late 60s
00:44:32and 70s,
00:44:34um,
00:44:35even into
00:44:36the 80s.
00:44:37But,
00:44:38obviously,
00:44:39the,
00:44:40the true
00:44:41voice
00:44:42of
00:44:42alternative
00:44:43music
00:44:44and the
00:44:44punk
00:44:44movement
00:44:46weren't
00:44:46actually
00:44:47welcome there.
00:44:49It's a good
00:44:50album,
00:44:50important album.
00:44:52It questions a lot
00:44:54of, uh,
00:44:55social conventions
00:44:57that
00:44:57we still conform
00:44:59to today.
00:45:00Uh,
00:45:01not entirely.
00:45:02We've come a little
00:45:03way.
00:45:03People,
00:45:04more people
00:45:05than before
00:45:06question war
00:45:07and why we
00:45:08go to it
00:45:09and
00:45:11whether we,
00:45:12uh,
00:45:14are doing the
00:45:15right thing
00:45:16when
00:45:17drones are
00:45:18sent over,
00:45:19villages,
00:45:20towns
00:45:21filled with
00:45:22innocent
00:45:23men,
00:45:24women,
00:45:24and children
00:45:25and are blown
00:45:25to pieces
00:45:29under bullshit
00:45:30pretense.
00:45:33I think
00:45:34more of us
00:45:34question that
00:45:35these days
00:45:36than they
00:45:37did back
00:45:38then,
00:45:38but still
00:45:39not enough.
00:45:41Modest
00:45:42Mouse,
00:45:44which one's
00:45:44this?
00:45:45This one's,
00:45:45uh,
00:45:47The Lonesome
00:45:47Crowded West.
00:45:48Modest Mouse,
00:45:49I don't know how to
00:45:50classify the music,
00:45:51just lovely music
00:45:53by some lovely
00:45:55people.
00:45:56Uh,
00:45:57really like them.
00:45:58Uh,
00:45:59The Canadian,
00:46:02well,
00:46:03it was produced
00:46:04in Seattle,
00:46:05so I'm gonna say
00:46:06not,
00:46:07but I,
00:46:08for some reason,
00:46:09I thought they were
00:46:09a Canadian band.
00:46:11Still,
00:46:11Modest Mouse,
00:46:12really good album.
00:46:15Alternative,
00:46:16uh,
00:46:16I don't even know
00:46:18how to classify them.
00:46:20Indie-ish,
00:46:22but not like,
00:46:23uh,
00:46:24kind of mainstream
00:46:25shitty UK indie.
00:46:27What's up,
00:46:27what's up,
00:46:27what's up,
00:46:28Raging Speedhorn?
00:46:29They were a British,
00:46:31uh,
00:46:32metal band.
00:46:33They were like
00:46:33a post-hardcore,
00:46:35uh,
00:46:38screamy
00:46:38metal band.
00:46:40Not death metal
00:46:40or anything,
00:46:41no,
00:46:41I'd just say
00:46:41kind of like
00:46:42hardcore metal band.
00:46:44Uh,
00:46:46UK band.
00:46:47Um,
00:46:49pretty good.
00:46:50This album
00:46:50was pretty good,
00:46:51but they just
00:46:52kind of didn't
00:46:52really go
00:46:53anywhere after it.
00:46:54It didn't
00:46:54get much
00:46:55commercial success,
00:46:56and
00:46:57I don't think
00:46:58they were cool
00:46:59enough for the scene,
00:47:01so they didn't
00:47:02really go anywhere.
00:47:03I think they
00:47:03ended up splitting up.
00:47:07I mean,
00:47:07it's not
00:47:08an amazing,
00:47:11it's not an
00:47:12amazing album,
00:47:13but it's still good.
00:47:15Sayoh again,
00:47:16if that's how
00:47:16it's pronounced.
00:47:17The fear is what
00:47:18keeps us here.
00:47:20What's on this album?
00:47:22Cancer Eater,
00:47:25Physician Heal Thyself,
00:47:28Kingdom of Thieves,
00:47:30Killing Time,
00:47:31Till It's Time to Die.
00:47:33Really like this album,
00:47:35actually,
00:47:35looking at the track list,
00:47:37because I just
00:47:37normally play it
00:47:38on my mp3 player,
00:47:39um,
00:47:40and Sayoh comes on,
00:47:41but a lot of tracks
00:47:42on this album,
00:47:44and just
00:47:45a lot of,
00:47:45uh,
00:47:48sick tracks
00:47:48on this album.
00:47:51Like this band,
00:47:53even though
00:47:54they're Christian.
00:47:56That's the thing,
00:47:57it's like such a
00:47:58kind of dark
00:48:00and aggressive
00:48:01heavy music.
00:48:02you wouldn't,
00:48:04like,
00:48:04a regular
00:48:05everyday Christian
00:48:06would think
00:48:07it was devil's music,
00:48:08but it's all,
00:48:09like,
00:48:10uh,
00:48:10Christian values
00:48:11in there.
00:48:18This CD
00:48:19is the one
00:48:20that fell down
00:48:20and made a noise,
00:48:22uh,
00:48:22Summer's End.
00:48:24Don't really know
00:48:25much about this band,
00:48:26they're just,
00:48:27uh,
00:48:27a metalcore band
00:48:30that had some
00:48:31really good tracks,
00:48:32uh,
00:48:33and they've got
00:48:35Michael Graves
00:48:37featuring on track 6,
00:48:38Head Wound,
00:48:39which is just
00:48:40really,
00:48:41really good song.
00:48:42If you like
00:48:43the misfits,
00:48:44Michael Graves'
00:48:46misfits,
00:48:46and you like
00:48:48metalcore,
00:48:49job done,
00:48:51there you go.
00:48:51Problem solved.
00:48:58This is Danzig's
00:48:59fourth album,
00:49:00I don't know
00:49:01if that says anything.
00:49:04This was,
00:49:05um,
00:49:07his last,
00:49:11like,
00:49:12solid album.
00:49:14Like,
00:49:15it's got,
00:49:16let me look
00:49:17at the tracks.
00:49:20It's got some
00:49:22slightly weak tracks
00:49:23in it,
00:49:23but overall
00:49:24as an album,
00:49:25it's a good album,
00:49:26it's a great album,
00:49:27in fact,
00:49:28it's got some
00:49:29really good,
00:49:29this is like,
00:49:31this is where
00:49:32he should've
00:49:33been
00:49:34later.
00:49:36Later on,
00:49:37he became more
00:49:39focused on the
00:49:40whole Gothic evil
00:49:41side of things
00:49:42and focusing on that,
00:49:45but,
00:49:50sorry about that.
00:49:52Uh,
00:49:52weekend assholes.
00:49:55Um,
00:49:56yeah,
00:49:56yeah,
00:49:57this,
00:49:57he took a direction
00:49:58where he went
00:50:01just kind of
00:50:05intentionally
00:50:07focused on
00:50:08the whole
00:50:10evil,
00:50:10gothy
00:50:11side of things,
00:50:12but
00:50:12this album,
00:50:14it was
00:50:15still hard rock,
00:50:17it was still
00:50:18experimental,
00:50:20it was still
00:50:21original,
00:50:21the tracks
00:50:22were good,
00:50:23they had
00:50:24a really
00:50:25dark
00:50:25and,
00:50:26um,
00:50:28melancholy
00:50:28vibe to them,
00:50:30but,
00:50:31it wasn't
00:50:32in a try-hard way,
00:50:34it was just,
00:50:35it worked,
00:50:36you didn't have to
00:50:37be a goth
00:50:38to enjoy the
00:50:39darkness
00:50:40in this album,
00:50:42so this was
00:50:43for me
00:50:43his last
00:50:44kind of
00:50:45great album,
00:50:47his last
00:50:48kind of,
00:50:48uh,
00:50:49genuine one,
00:50:50I mean,
00:50:50the third album,
00:50:51Out of the Godskill,
00:50:53wasn't as good,
00:50:54so he kind of made,
00:50:55he kind of
00:50:56dropped down
00:50:57with that
00:50:57kind of
00:50:58commercial
00:50:59album that was
00:51:00just basically
00:51:01an attempt to
00:51:01replicate the
00:51:02success from
00:51:03his first album,
00:51:05and,
00:51:05uh,
00:51:06he came back
00:51:07from that
00:51:07and made that
00:51:08album,
00:51:08which was
00:51:09genuinely good,
00:51:11uh,
00:51:11Animosity's
00:51:12other album,
00:51:14um,
00:51:15Empires,
00:51:20just as good
00:51:21as their
00:51:21other album,
00:51:23really good,
00:51:24Thieves,
00:51:26uh,
00:51:26well,
00:51:26yeah,
00:51:26Empires,
00:51:30Shut It Down,
00:51:32really good,
00:51:33really good,
00:51:34hardcore,
00:51:35technical,
00:51:36death metal band,
00:51:37just,
00:51:37they're just,
00:51:37technical,
00:51:38hardcore,
00:51:40they've got,
00:51:40like,
00:51:40awesome breakdowns,
00:51:42awesome riffs,
00:51:45sucks,
00:51:50Black Fag,
00:51:53uh,
00:51:53Damaged,
00:51:55this is all
00:51:56Henry Rollins
00:51:56on this one,
00:51:57but still,
00:51:58I mean,
00:51:59it's got
00:52:00the best of a
00:52:01bad situation,
00:52:03it's got
00:52:04Six Pack
00:52:04TV Party,
00:52:06uh,
00:52:07Spray Paint,
00:52:07Rise Above,
00:52:09uh,
00:52:10Police Story,
00:52:11uh,
00:52:13so it's kind of got
00:52:14the best stuff
00:52:15that Rollins did
00:52:16on that album,
00:52:19uh,
00:52:23still not as good
00:52:24as that other dude,
00:52:32misfits again,
00:52:34legacy of brutality,
00:52:36what's on this one,
00:52:38static age,
00:52:40TV casualty,
00:52:41hybrid moments,
00:52:42Spider-Man's
00:52:43comeback,
00:52:44some kind of hate,
00:52:46theme for jackal,
00:52:47angel fuck,
00:52:49who get Marilyn,
00:52:50killed Marilyn,
00:52:51where he goes
00:52:52there,
00:52:53she,
00:52:54American Nightmare,
00:52:56has a fucking
00:52:57awesome album,
00:53:04that's almost
00:53:06all their best tracks,
00:53:08um,
00:53:09I like Horror Hotel,
00:53:10which isn't on there,
00:53:12American Nightmare's
00:53:13really good,
00:53:14it's really cool,
00:53:16it's got that,
00:53:18it's almost got like
00:53:19a rockabilly vibe
00:53:21to it,
00:53:22horror rockabilly,
00:53:24gothic horror rockabilly,
00:53:28uh,
00:53:29Susie and the Banshees,
00:53:31Juju,
00:53:32this is the only
00:53:33Susie and the Banshees
00:53:34album I've got,
00:53:35but it's their best one,
00:53:37so,
00:53:37it's got Spellbound,
00:53:39Into the Light,
00:53:40well yeah,
00:53:40Halloween,
00:53:41Arabian Nights,
00:53:42Monitor,
00:53:43Night Shift,
00:53:44Sin in My Heart,
00:53:47really good album,
00:53:49Susie and the Banshees,
00:53:52what's this,
00:53:56Drop Dead Gorgeous,
00:53:58In Vogue,
00:53:59I was on some
00:54:00website that
00:54:01you listen to a track
00:54:02and it recommends
00:54:03other bands to you,
00:54:05and it played,
00:54:06um,
00:54:08Dressed for Friend Requests,
00:54:10which is the first
00:54:11track on this album,
00:54:12and I thought,
00:54:13that's got like
00:54:14a really good breakdown
00:54:15on it,
00:54:15and the guys like
00:54:16got a lot of energy
00:54:17in his screams,
00:54:19so I bought the album,
00:54:21and,
00:54:23it's like the only
00:54:24good track on it,
00:54:25really,
00:54:26it's a,
00:54:28super scene,
00:54:29star metalcore,
00:54:30screamo metalcore band,
00:54:32just like,
00:54:33only really,
00:54:34got an album out,
00:54:36because that genre
00:54:37was so popular
00:54:38at the time,
00:54:39if it wasn't as popular
00:54:41as it was,
00:54:41they wouldn't have
00:54:42got signed,
00:54:44Danzig's first album,
00:54:46is it just called Danzig?
00:54:49Yes.
00:54:54It's good,
00:54:55I don't think
00:54:56it's his best album,
00:54:59I think his second
00:55:00and fourth album
00:55:01are probably
00:55:01his best albums,
00:55:03this is good,
00:55:05Mother is a classic,
00:55:07um,
00:55:08a lot of,
00:55:09it's a lot of
00:55:10samey tracks
00:55:10though on that album,
00:55:12a lot of
00:55:13tracks where you feel
00:55:14like you're listening
00:55:15to the same song,
00:55:18this is Danzig's
00:55:20attempt at
00:55:21composing,
00:55:22this is kind of like
00:55:23weird,
00:55:24gothic,
00:55:25classical music,
00:55:26but done with
00:55:27a really,
00:55:27like,
00:55:29mediocre synthesizer suite,
00:55:31so all of the
00:55:32sounds and effects
00:55:33that he was
00:55:34trying to create
00:55:35sound kind of
00:55:36cheesy,
00:55:37and like,
00:55:38the
00:55:39tones and
00:55:41synthesizers
00:55:41he got from
00:55:42like a stock
00:55:43music library
00:55:44or something,
00:55:45so,
00:55:47still kind of
00:55:48cool,
00:55:48it is,
00:55:49it's a cool album,
00:55:50uh,
00:55:51but,
00:55:52yeah,
00:55:53he could have done
00:55:54with a better
00:55:55producer working
00:55:56on it,
00:55:56he was probably
00:55:57the producer,
00:55:57that's the problem,
00:55:59because he likes
00:55:59to do everything
00:56:00himself and he's
00:56:01not good at
00:56:01everything,
00:56:04Guns N' Roses,
00:56:05Appetite for
00:56:06Destruction,
00:56:08yeah,
00:56:11I'm,
00:56:12I'm not even
00:56:12a huge Guns N' Roses
00:56:13fan,
00:56:14the only reason
00:56:15I like
00:56:15Guns N' Roses
00:56:16in the first
00:56:17places because,
00:56:17um,
00:56:19they've got that
00:56:20track on
00:56:21Terminator 2
00:56:22when John Connor's
00:56:24riding his
00:56:24motorbike
00:56:25with his friend
00:56:26and he's got
00:56:26the Ghetto
00:56:27Blaster
00:56:27playing the,
00:56:28uh,
00:56:29track,
00:56:31like that,
00:56:32November Rain
00:56:33are my two
00:56:34favorite tracks
00:56:34by them
00:56:35and this
00:56:36doesn't have
00:56:37either,
00:56:42Modest Mouse
00:56:42again,
00:56:43good news
00:56:44for people
00:56:45who love
00:56:45bad news,
00:56:48um,
00:56:51yeah,
00:56:53just see if I
00:56:54can find one
00:56:55of my favorite
00:56:55track is on
00:56:56this,
00:56:59I like
00:56:59Bukowski,
00:57:24Bukowski,
00:57:28Bukowski,
00:57:30on that album
00:57:31by Salt,
00:57:32all good,
00:57:33all good,
00:57:37this is gonna
00:57:38fall down
00:57:38so I've got
00:57:39crap on both,
00:57:40this is Joy Division,
00:57:42uh,
00:57:43live in La Bain Douche,
00:57:44I don't know how
00:57:46you say that,
00:57:46on the 18th of
00:57:47December 79,
00:57:49just a live gig,
00:57:50it was good,
00:57:52it's really
00:57:52raw sounding,
00:57:53you know,
00:57:54I mean like if
00:57:55you played it
00:57:55you would feel
00:57:56like you were
00:57:56there,
00:57:56so,
00:57:58not mixed at all,
00:58:00La Tigra,
00:58:02kind of Canadian
00:58:03electronic indie
00:58:04band,
00:58:06uh,
00:58:11it's pretty,
00:58:12um,
00:58:15primitive
00:58:16in its
00:58:18execution
00:58:19and its
00:58:19production
00:58:20but
00:58:22there's
00:58:23cool style
00:58:23to it,
00:58:25it's like a nice
00:58:25group of gay
00:58:26girls just
00:58:27being cool
00:58:28and having fun
00:58:29being gay
00:58:30and playing
00:58:31electronic music,
00:58:33I don't know,
00:58:35uh,
00:58:35this is like a
00:58:36New York
00:58:37horror punk
00:58:38band called
00:58:38Blase Debris,
00:58:40um,
00:58:44never really
00:58:45got big
00:58:46selling albums
00:58:47that they
00:58:48pressed
00:58:48themselves,
00:58:50they had
00:58:51their
00:58:51MySpace
00:58:51page and
00:58:52back in the
00:58:53day they
00:58:54wanted a
00:58:55banner done
00:58:56for their
00:58:56MySpace
00:58:56page and
00:58:58one of the
00:58:59guys I lived
00:58:59with was
00:59:00studying graphic
00:59:01design so I
00:59:01hooked them up
00:59:02and got him
00:59:03to do a banner
00:59:03for them and
00:59:04they sent me a
00:59:05care package
00:59:06with a CD
00:59:06and some
00:59:07stickers and
00:59:07stuff,
00:59:08it's a cool
00:59:08album but
00:59:10yeah,
00:59:11there's not
00:59:12really a market
00:59:13for that
00:59:13style of music
00:59:14so,
00:59:17Darkest Hour
00:59:19and Doing
00:59:20Ruin,
00:59:21um,
00:59:22I actually,
00:59:23this is one of
00:59:23the first CDs
00:59:24that I ripped
00:59:26onto my laptop
00:59:27and put onto
00:59:28my MP3 player
00:59:29when I got
00:59:29home from
00:59:31Wales,
00:59:33it's a
00:59:35sick album,
00:59:36sick metal band
00:59:38and I guess
00:59:39like metal
00:59:41core band
00:59:42I guess they
00:59:43be categorised
00:59:44as really
00:59:46good,
00:59:46not seen
00:59:48enough to
00:59:48be huge
00:59:49but good
00:59:50fuck
00:59:51scenes,
00:59:52this is the
00:59:53best,
00:59:54the best
00:59:56of Saxon,
00:59:58Dio,
01:00:00is a legend,
01:00:01rest in peace
01:00:01Dio,
01:00:03and this is
01:00:04one of the
01:00:04bands he was
01:00:05in,
01:00:05Saxon,
01:00:06this was
01:00:07one of his
01:00:07main project
01:00:08bands,
01:00:11he was in
01:00:12Black Sabbath
01:00:12but he was
01:00:13just stepping
01:00:14in kind of
01:00:14thing,
01:00:15this is one
01:00:16of his bands
01:00:17though,
01:00:21like,
01:00:24you can
01:00:24kind of have
01:00:25nostalgic fun
01:00:26with this album
01:00:27because it's
01:00:28kind of cheesy,
01:00:31early to mid
01:00:3280s,
01:00:35British heavy
01:00:37metal,
01:00:39so it's
01:00:40bordering on
01:00:41hair metal,
01:00:42if you don't
01:00:43know what you're
01:00:44talking about,
01:00:45it can fall into
01:00:46that category
01:00:47but this is
01:00:49sick,
01:00:50sick.
01:00:52Some people
01:00:53speculate that
01:00:55Saxon were the
01:00:56influence,
01:00:57one of the
01:00:58influences for
01:01:01Spinal Tap,
01:01:02a band in
01:01:03the mockumentary
01:01:04Spinal Tap,
01:01:06which you
01:01:07kind of see
01:01:07it in places.
01:01:14Next is
01:01:15Echo and the
01:01:16Bunnymen,
01:01:16Ocean Rain.
01:01:18I originally
01:01:19bought this
01:01:19album just
01:01:22because it
01:01:22has The Killing
01:01:24Moon on it,
01:01:25which is a
01:01:25track that
01:01:26features in
01:01:26Donnie Darko,
01:01:27and I
01:01:30already had
01:01:30Tears of
01:01:31Fear sung
01:01:31from the
01:01:32picture back
01:01:34before Donnie
01:01:35Darko was
01:01:36even an idea
01:01:37in someone's
01:01:38head,
01:01:41but I
01:01:42got it for
01:01:42The Killing
01:01:43Moon,
01:01:43left that
01:01:44track,
01:01:44hated the
01:01:45rest of
01:01:45it,
01:01:47brought it
01:01:48home with
01:01:48me,
01:01:49ripped it,
01:01:50put it back
01:01:50on my
01:01:50MP3 player
01:01:51to try and
01:01:52give it a
01:01:53second chance.
01:01:54Still a bit
01:01:55iffy but
01:01:56it's growing
01:01:57on me.
01:01:59Obviously
01:01:59The Killing
01:02:00Moon is
01:02:00an awesome
01:02:01track.
01:02:06The White
01:02:07Stripes,
01:02:08Elephant,
01:02:10this is
01:02:11like their
01:02:11second album
01:02:12but their
01:02:13first commercially
01:02:15successful album
01:02:16globally.
01:02:19Good album,
01:02:20good tracks
01:02:21on it.
01:02:22I need to
01:02:23get more of
01:02:24their more
01:02:24recent albums
01:02:25because I
01:02:25know they
01:02:26just kind
01:02:26of got more
01:02:27refined and
01:02:27better with
01:02:28their sound
01:02:29so I
01:02:29should really
01:02:31go back
01:02:31and find
01:02:33some of
01:02:34their albums
01:02:34when I've
01:02:35got that
01:02:36kind of
01:02:36spear cache.
01:02:37I just
01:02:37bought a
01:02:38bunch of
01:02:39Black Keys
01:02:40albums.
01:02:41I've got an
01:02:42Xbox game
01:02:43called Rocksmith
01:02:45which teaches
01:02:46you to play
01:02:46real guitar
01:02:47and the
01:02:49Black Keys
01:02:50tracks are
01:02:50kind of
01:02:51kind of like
01:02:51a good
01:02:52intermediate
01:02:53style to
01:02:54learn
01:02:56with a
01:02:56mixture of
01:02:57chords and
01:02:58notes.
01:02:59So,
01:03:00and I just
01:03:01kind of,
01:03:02they grew on me
01:03:03from that
01:03:03really,
01:03:04so I bought
01:03:05a bunch of
01:03:05those so I
01:03:06can't really
01:03:06buy any more
01:03:08albums for a
01:03:08while.
01:03:11This is a
01:03:12guilty pleasure
01:03:14but I don't
01:03:15care how
01:03:17lame it
01:03:17is.
01:03:18My Chemical
01:03:19Romance,
01:03:21Three Cheers,
01:03:26Three Cheers
01:03:27for Sweet
01:03:27Revenge,
01:03:31Emo,
01:03:32I think
01:03:32that's the
01:03:33only way
01:03:33you can
01:03:34put it,
01:03:35emo.
01:03:36They
01:03:36epitomise
01:03:37that emo
01:03:37sound,
01:03:38but
01:03:39fuck it,
01:03:41that's a
01:03:42fucking
01:03:42sick album,
01:03:43it's good
01:03:43songwriting,
01:03:45no matter
01:03:46how emo
01:03:47it is,
01:03:47it's good
01:03:47songwriting,
01:03:49and I
01:03:50ripped that
01:03:51to my
01:03:51mp3 player
01:03:52too and
01:03:52I've been
01:03:53enjoying that.
01:03:54Shadows
01:03:55Fall,
01:03:56don't know,
01:03:57Parking Boon
01:03:57CD,
01:03:58didn't really
01:03:59pay much
01:03:59attention to
01:04:00it,
01:04:01didn't really
01:04:01enjoy it,
01:04:02it was
01:04:02kind of
01:04:02mediocre.
01:04:06Jamiroquai,
01:04:07I haven't
01:04:07ripped this
01:04:07yet,
01:04:08A Funk
01:04:09Odyssey,
01:04:11it's one
01:04:11of his,
01:04:12this is like
01:04:13his third
01:04:13album or
01:04:14second album,
01:04:16You Give
01:04:16Me Something,
01:04:19Black Crow
01:04:19is kind of
01:04:20cool,
01:04:21yeah,
01:04:21this isn't
01:04:22one of his
01:04:22better albums
01:04:23actually,
01:04:23but it's
01:04:24the only
01:04:24one that
01:04:24I own,
01:04:26but no,
01:04:29it feels
01:04:29so good,
01:04:30it's alright,
01:04:31You Give
01:04:31Me Something
01:04:32is cool,
01:04:38yeah,
01:04:38it's not
01:04:3920-0
01:04:40ones,
01:04:41okay,
01:04:42it's alright,
01:04:43it's okay,
01:04:44it's not
01:04:44amazing,
01:04:47these are
01:04:48gonna fall,
01:04:50let's grab
01:04:50this one,
01:04:53alright,
01:04:53let's grab
01:04:54both of these,
01:05:00between the
01:05:01buried and
01:05:02me,
01:05:02probably,
01:05:03one of my
01:05:04favourite
01:05:04bands,
01:05:06I'd probably
01:05:06put them
01:05:07in my
01:05:07top 20
01:05:08bands
01:05:08of all
01:05:09time,
01:05:11technical,
01:05:12progressive
01:05:13metal,
01:05:14best way
01:05:15to put it,
01:05:16this is a
01:05:17pre-album
01:05:18album,
01:05:19I guess,
01:05:19this is part
01:05:20one,
01:05:21the parallax
01:05:22hypersleep
01:05:23dialogues,
01:05:26cool,
01:05:27I mean,
01:05:27they're really
01:05:28creative and
01:05:29progressive
01:05:31and experimental
01:05:32and they've
01:05:34got
01:05:37technical
01:05:38proficiency
01:05:38of the
01:05:39wazoo,
01:05:40one of the
01:05:40most technically
01:05:41proficient
01:05:42bands I've
01:05:43ever heard
01:05:44on guitars
01:05:45and drums
01:05:46and bass,
01:05:47the vocalist
01:05:48is,
01:05:48he's good,
01:05:50he's not
01:05:51like,
01:05:51he doesn't
01:05:52have like a
01:05:52great singing
01:05:53voice,
01:05:54but he's got
01:05:54like a good
01:05:56growling and
01:05:57shouting voice
01:05:58and his
01:06:00harmonies
01:06:01are good
01:06:02enough and
01:06:03his style
01:06:03fits the
01:06:04music though,
01:06:05I wouldn't
01:06:05want him to
01:06:06be replaced
01:06:06by anybody,
01:06:08yeah,
01:06:09sick band,
01:06:10so that's
01:06:11part one,
01:06:12the parallax
01:06:13hypersleep
01:06:13dialogues,
01:06:15and then
01:06:15this is kind
01:06:16of,
01:06:16oh no,
01:06:17this is
01:06:17the great
01:06:18misdirect,
01:06:22I downloaded
01:06:23parallax 2,
01:06:24basically part
01:06:252 is the
01:06:25full album
01:06:26of the
01:06:27parallax 2,
01:06:28I bought
01:06:28it,
01:06:29I paid
01:06:29for it,
01:06:30but it was
01:06:30a digital
01:06:31download,
01:06:32a digital
01:06:33download,
01:06:34a digital
01:06:37purchase,
01:06:42any more
01:06:43weekend
01:06:44wankers,
01:06:45no,
01:06:46okay,
01:06:47this one
01:06:48is the
01:06:49great
01:06:49misdirect,
01:06:50but between
01:06:51the period
01:06:52and me,
01:06:54cool
01:06:55artwork,
01:07:09just,
01:07:11yeah,
01:07:12one of my
01:07:12favorite,
01:07:12one of my
01:07:14favorite bands,
01:07:15I'm like,
01:07:15I'm not good
01:07:16at picking,
01:07:22I'm not good
01:07:23of picking
01:07:23favorite,
01:07:24anythings,
01:07:25so,
01:07:26for me to
01:07:27say they're
01:07:28in my top
01:07:2920,
01:07:29it's a
01:07:30bold statement,
01:07:31I almost
01:07:32said top
01:07:3210,
01:07:33but I was
01:07:33like,
01:07:34steady on,
01:07:35you know,
01:07:37I haven't
01:07:37lived my
01:07:38life fully
01:07:39yet,
01:07:39they might
01:07:39be bands
01:07:40I haven't
01:07:40heard yet,
01:07:41but I feel
01:07:42pretty confident
01:07:43placing them
01:07:44in my top
01:07:4720 of all
01:07:48time,
01:07:50this is
01:07:50Joy Division
01:07:53live at
01:07:55Preston
01:07:55in 1980,
01:07:57I think
01:07:58they were
01:07:58quoted as
01:07:59saying this
01:07:59was the
01:07:59worst gig
01:08:00they ever
01:08:01played,
01:08:02but it
01:08:03was also
01:08:03one of the
01:08:04best gigs
01:08:04they ever
01:08:05played,
01:08:05because it
01:08:06was one
01:08:06of the
01:08:06worst,
01:08:07everything
01:08:08that could
01:08:08go wrong
01:08:09went wrong,
01:08:10halfway through
01:08:11the gig,
01:08:12they start
01:08:12playing
01:08:14everything
01:08:14out of a
01:08:15bass amp,
01:08:16because the
01:08:16PA just
01:08:18explodes,
01:08:20so they
01:08:21put up with
01:08:21a lot of
01:08:22shit,
01:08:22but at the
01:08:22same time,
01:08:24the audience
01:08:25kind of
01:08:28stuck with
01:08:28them and
01:08:29cheered them
01:08:29on,
01:08:30and yeah,
01:08:32it worked
01:08:32out,
01:08:32and I think
01:08:33it was just
01:08:33like a
01:08:36exercise in
01:08:37perseverance
01:08:38and reward
01:08:40for them,
01:08:41maybe,
01:08:43probably more
01:08:43to it than
01:08:44that,
01:08:44I don't really
01:08:45understand or
01:08:46know the
01:08:46whole story,
01:08:48I'll get
01:08:49this one
01:08:49out of the
01:08:50way quickly,
01:08:51I might
01:08:51put this
01:08:52back on
01:08:52my mp3
01:08:53player,
01:08:54actually,
01:08:55this is
01:08:55the streets
01:08:56original
01:08:57pirate material,
01:08:59kind of
01:09:01cockney,
01:09:03electric,
01:09:04hip hop
01:09:05music,
01:09:08this,
01:09:10I stole
01:09:10this album
01:09:11from
01:09:11HMV,
01:09:13I went
01:09:14into HMV,
01:09:16to buy
01:09:17this album,
01:09:18I went
01:09:19to the
01:09:19shelf,
01:09:20and I
01:09:21picked the
01:09:21album up
01:09:22from the
01:09:23shelf,
01:09:24and I
01:09:25took it
01:09:25to the
01:09:25counter,
01:09:26and there
01:09:27was a
01:09:27queue of
01:09:28about four
01:09:29people,
01:09:29maybe even
01:09:30three,
01:09:32and behind
01:09:33the counter
01:09:33were two
01:09:33clerks,
01:09:34a young
01:09:35man and
01:09:36a young
01:09:36woman,
01:09:38and they
01:09:39intentionally
01:09:40ignored the
01:09:41people waiting
01:09:42to be served
01:09:43for about
01:09:44five minutes
01:09:45while they
01:09:46flirted and
01:09:47chatted with
01:09:47each other
01:09:48and turned
01:09:49their backs
01:09:49to us,
01:09:51and after
01:09:52five minutes
01:09:52of this
01:09:55display of
01:09:56disrespect,
01:09:58I thought,
01:09:59fuck it,
01:10:00I want this
01:10:01album,
01:10:02but I don't
01:10:03want to pay
01:10:03these people
01:10:05for this
01:10:06album,
01:10:07and I
01:10:07don't like
01:10:08the way
01:10:08I'm being
01:10:10disrespected,
01:10:11so I
01:10:13pulled the
01:10:14security tab
01:10:14off the
01:10:15case,
01:10:16took the
01:10:17CD out,
01:10:18and left
01:10:18the case
01:10:18behind,
01:10:19and took
01:10:20the fucking
01:10:20CD,
01:10:21so fuck
01:10:22you,
01:10:22HMV,
01:10:25I'm glad
01:10:26you're fucking
01:10:26closing down,
01:10:29you destroyed
01:10:32music stores
01:10:33with your
01:10:34chain stores,
01:10:35and now you're
01:10:36being destroyed,
01:10:37so you reap what
01:10:38you sow,
01:10:41misery signals,
01:10:43I think this is
01:10:44Malice and the
01:10:45Magnum Art,
01:10:48yeah,
01:10:50their best album,
01:10:51I've got all of
01:10:52their albums,
01:10:55all but two of
01:10:56them are digital
01:10:57downloads,
01:10:58I don't know
01:10:58where the other
01:10:59hard copy is,
01:11:01that's a good
01:11:01point,
01:11:02where is it?
01:11:04But,
01:11:04yeah,
01:11:05misery signals,
01:11:06metalcore,
01:11:09and this is like,
01:11:13album is basically,
01:11:15the whole experience
01:11:16album is about
01:11:17mourning the loss
01:11:19of people you
01:11:20love,
01:11:22but really uplifting,
01:11:24really taking
01:11:26something that
01:11:27really sucks,
01:11:29and kind of
01:11:30giving you a feeling
01:11:31of hope,
01:11:33and just musically
01:11:34being really good,
01:11:37sick album is one
01:11:38of my favourite
01:11:39albums too,
01:11:41I put that one
01:11:42in the top 40,
01:11:45top 40 albums,
01:11:48Suicide Silence,
01:11:49Death Metal,
01:11:50slash Grindcore,
01:11:52and The Cleansing,
01:11:57nothing complicated
01:11:58about this band,
01:11:59just heavy,
01:12:01fast,
01:12:02lots of double
01:12:03bass,
01:12:04lots of blast
01:12:04beats,
01:12:06their vocalist
01:12:07had like,
01:12:08really kind of
01:12:08like,
01:12:10high-pitched
01:12:11scream,
01:12:12with like,
01:12:13low-cutterall
01:12:15growls,
01:12:16it's a good
01:12:16combination,
01:12:18good,
01:12:19but he's dead,
01:12:21what's his name?
01:12:31Is it
01:12:32Mitch Lacker?
01:12:33Mitch Lacker,
01:12:35he died
01:12:36last year
01:12:38in a motorcycle
01:12:40crash,
01:12:4128 years old,
01:12:48left behind her,
01:12:50six-year-old daughter,
01:12:52I think,
01:12:53sucks,
01:12:56Black Flag,
01:12:57My War,
01:12:59the single,
01:13:00My War,
01:13:00is really cool,
01:13:02her,
01:13:08it's got a couple
01:13:09of good tracks
01:13:09on it,
01:13:10the rest I'm not
01:13:11really a fan of,
01:13:16tears for fears,
01:13:17everybody loves
01:13:18a happy ending,
01:13:20I saw that
01:13:21tears for fears
01:13:21had released
01:13:22a more recent
01:13:23album,
01:13:25this one,
01:13:25I mean,
01:13:25if you can't
01:13:26already tell
01:13:27from the artwork,
01:13:28this has got
01:13:28a Beatles vibe
01:13:30to it,
01:13:32I mean,
01:13:33basically,
01:13:33what you've got
01:13:34is you've got
01:13:38a contemporary
01:13:39styled
01:13:40tears for fears
01:13:41combined with
01:13:43the Beatles,
01:13:44and that's what
01:13:45this album is,
01:13:46it's pretty
01:13:48cheerful,
01:13:53it's kind of
01:13:54whimsical,
01:13:54cool,
01:13:55it's still cool,
01:13:56it doesn't have
01:13:58a sniff on
01:13:59songs from
01:14:00the big cheer
01:14:01though,
01:14:02it's an amazing
01:14:03album,
01:14:05so yeah,
01:14:06that was
01:14:07a collection
01:14:09of CDs
01:14:11that I brought
01:14:17back to London
01:14:18with me,
01:14:22and I'm making
01:14:23a mess now,
01:14:23right near the
01:14:24finishing line,
01:14:29stay tuned
01:14:30for my little
01:14:34toys and
01:14:35action figure
01:14:36kind of video
01:14:37that I'll
01:14:40make
01:14:41at some point,
01:14:43not soon,
01:14:44I hope you
01:14:45enjoyed
01:14:47the video,
01:14:49no tapping
01:14:50or gum chewing
01:14:52or anything
01:14:52like that
01:14:53this time,
01:14:54just whispering,
01:14:58yeah,
01:14:59this isn't
01:15:00kind of a
01:15:01representation
01:15:02of my musical
01:15:03taste in
01:15:03general,
01:15:04this is just
01:15:04kind of like
01:15:05a cross-section,
01:15:07all these CDs
01:15:08are from quite a
01:15:09narrow period of
01:15:10time in my life,
01:15:11so,
01:15:13you know,
01:15:14they don't
01:15:14account for the
01:15:15blues and the
01:15:16jazz,
01:15:18and they don't
01:15:18account for the
01:15:19hip-hop and the
01:15:20electronic music,
01:15:22and kind of
01:15:27different strains of
01:15:29indie music and
01:15:30stuff that I
01:15:32listen to now,
01:15:33don't get me wrong,
01:15:34I'm not trying to
01:15:35hide the fact that
01:15:36I listen to
01:15:37metal music,
01:15:39I still love
01:15:40metal music,
01:15:41all different kinds
01:15:41of metal music,
01:15:42grindcore,
01:15:44death metal,
01:15:45progressive,
01:15:47but this just
01:15:48isn't a full
01:15:49representation of
01:15:50the kind of,
01:15:51all the kinds of
01:15:52music that I
01:15:53like to listen to,
01:15:54it's just kind of
01:15:55like a cross-section,
01:15:57anyway,
01:15:58I hope you
01:15:59enjoyed it,
01:16:00and I hope that
01:16:01you're actually
01:16:02asleep as I
01:16:04speak,
01:16:08so,
01:16:09if I don't
01:16:10see you
01:16:11later.
01:16:13Borda.
01:16:22Brennaunda.
01:16:32Anusta.
01:16:36Good night,
01:16:37everybody.
01:16:38Sleep well.
