Taika Waititi has some VERY cheeky words for Aran Murphy!

The Oscar-winning filmmaker brings his trademark humour to the Klara and the Sun premiere and absolutely nothing is off limits!

From hilariously calling rising star Aran Murphy a "little sh*t" to revealing his surprising first impressions of Kazuo Ishiguro's bestselling novel, Taika is in brilliantly mischievous form.

He also shares some love for his wife Rita Ora, faces the ultimate question about directing Thor, vampires and robots (who's the biggest diva?!) and reveals whether he's finally starting to mature as a filmmaker.

Plus, why did he initially think Klara and the Sun wasn't that great?!

00:00I don't understand what's going on. Am I dumb?
00:02Karen. That little s***. That guy.
00:05No, he reminds me very much of somebody.
00:08A young me.
00:09Hi, what's up?
00:10First of all, I was going to say, thank you for giving us Cup of Goals, your lady.
00:12I love her so much.
00:14Ah, she's like...
00:14A single launch of 2020.
00:162012?
00:17Yeah.
00:17So we go right back.
00:18Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:19Thank you for just bringing the happiness out of each other.
00:21Love it.
00:23You've directed Vampires, you've directed Thor.
00:26Now Robots.
00:26You've directed Robots now.
00:27Who's the biggest thiever?
00:29The Vampires.
00:30The Vampires.
00:31The Vampires and that's mainly because it was me.
00:32Yeah.
00:33I am the biggest thiever I've worked with.
00:35Oh, I just love that.
00:36Why not, eh?
00:36Yeah.
00:38Don't apologise.
00:39Let's talk about this incredible film, an incredible book.
00:41Were you just excited, as I think you might have been, to get your mitts on it?
00:44I was, yeah.
00:45I read the book not knowing what it was going to be.
00:49And I was just...
00:51It really surprised me.
00:52I thought, you know, I started reading and I thought, what is happening?
00:55I don't understand what's going on.
00:57Am I dumb?
00:58And there seems to be nothing happening in this book.
01:01And then after a few pages, I realised, oh, it's just getting deeper and deeper and
01:05there's more twists and turns and I'm starting to feel really uneasy about this.
01:10And that's when I thought, oh, this is a good story.
01:12This actually feels like a movie.
01:14Yeah.
01:15And the most incredible cast, including the guy who's broken the internet this week, Aaron
01:18Murphy.
01:19I mean, how amazing is that young talent?
01:21Aaron.
01:21That little shit.
01:22That guy.
01:24You know, he was destined for it, wasn't he?
01:27I mean, when I saw his first audition tape, I was like, oh, no.
01:31I better get in there quick because he's not going to need us soon.
01:33And he's at that stage already.
01:35Do you think he reminds me of somebody?
01:37No, he reminds me very much of somebody.
01:39A young me.
01:41I think you bring in the happiness and everything to start.
01:44Oh, thank you.
01:45Yeah, yeah.
01:46Well, yeah, this film could have been more depressing and cynical and, you know, Clara as a robot
01:51could have decided that humans are horrible and gone on a murder spree.
01:57But we just like to keep it true to the book and keep it positive and uplifting.
02:00A bit more of a serious hat that you had on a little bit.
02:03Absolutely.
02:03Oh, absolutely.
02:04Yeah, yeah.
02:04I'm maturing.
