Donald Trump's new White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, faces questions about her professional legal credentials.
Zacharia has publicly described herself as a corporate lawyer and said she practiced corporate law. Pepperdine University has confirmed she graduated from law school in 2011, but journalists searching U.S. attorney registration records have found no verified admission to a state bar.
When questioned outside the White House about where she passed the bar examination, Zacharia responded by referring to moving to China.
China's national legal qualification examination requires Chinese citizenship. However, her response does not establish that she claimed to have taken China's examination.
Holding a law degree, working in a legal environment and being licensed to practice law are three different things.
