00:01Lissandro Martinez has sparked controversy after publicly criticising Manchester United's hierarchy following their 2-0 Champions League defeat by Atletico
00:14Madrid.
00:16The Argentine international defender questioned the club's summer transfer business, insisting more investment was needed to help United compete with
00:29Europe's leading sides.
00:32He specifically pointed towards the technical director, Jason Wilcox, saying he expected more from those responsible for strengthening the squad.
00:45Lissandro Martinez also warned that opponents were becoming increasingly familiar with United's approach, arguing that further recruitment was essential to
00:59maintain progress.
01:02The former United striker Wayne Rooney has described the outburst as disrespectful to the defender's teammates as well.
01:13Rooney acknowledged that Martinez had a point about recruitment but argued that such concerns should have been discussed internally rather
01:23than directly after a game during an interview.
01:27Jamie Carragher has auto-criticised the interview, branding the remarks as awful and suggesting Martinez need to examine his own
01:37performances at the start of this season instead.
01:40Rene too.
