00:009 ?
00:00Oui, 9 ou 4.
00:01La troisième match, Never Musabetsu Kiu Senshi Khen Jai.
00:04OK.
00:05Je fais une première match à 60 mois.
00:07Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
00:10We all did a ton of interviews in the warm up for WrestleKingdom,
00:14and every time asked, all of us asked,
00:16what match are you looking forward to the most?
00:18I swear we all said this one.
00:20Yes.
00:21Both nights at WrestleKingdom with so much at stake on the line,
00:24all the big money matches, and we just can't wait to see Shinko
00:27Defend that never openweight title
00:29Versus Jeff Cobb
00:30And the time is now
00:31For Jeff Cobb
00:35You listen back to his press conference
00:37And it's everything you need to know
00:40About the man that makes his way
00:41To the ring
00:42When you're in professional wrestling
00:46You lose friendships
00:48You lose family
00:50You lose relationships
00:52It is the cost of doing business
00:55Jeff Cobb was willing
00:57To sacrifice all of that
01:01To shed the skin
01:03Of being known as a nice guy
01:05Who never finishes first
01:07In New Japan Pro Wrestling
01:09The newest member of the empire
01:12But more importantly
01:15A man with a purpose
01:16A singular purpose
01:18And that is to once again
01:20Beat Shingo Takagi
01:22But this time to regain
01:24The never openweight championship
01:26The empire
01:28The heartache
01:30Jeff Cobb
01:32And Jeff Cobb
01:34So Jeff Cobb sought out Will Ospreay
01:36He went to Will Ospreay
01:38And asked to join the empire
01:39That knowing even though people would ask questions
01:43Jeff Cobb beat Will Ospreay
01:45At Madison Square Garden
01:46To win the never openweight championship
01:47For the first time
01:48Beat him during the G1
01:49But he wanted direction
01:51I'm going to take exception with that
01:53Because my sources tell me
01:56Because my sources tell me
01:57That Will asked Cobb to be in the empire
02:01I read that interview
02:02Ospreay told me himself
02:04I know
02:04I know what you say
02:06But that's not the story that Jeff Cobb is telling people
02:10I'm not sure
02:11But in order for Jeff Cobb
02:14To win the never openweight title
02:17For a second time
02:18And in his mind
02:19Make things right
02:21He's going to have to beat
02:22One of the most dominant athletes
02:24That we've seen in New Japan Pro Wrestling
02:26Rocky
02:26He's the wrestler's wrestler
02:28Shingo Takagi
02:29He's one that everybody studies
02:31He's one that everybody can't take their eyes off of
02:34And he is one of the toughest bent ever
02:36In this ring
02:38There
02:39Yes
02:40Absolute yes
02:42Dude I've been focusing on this match for the longest
02:46I cannot wait for this
02:47This guy
02:49Shingo Takagi
02:50Has come into New Japan by storm
02:53I mean if you remember
02:54When he competed as a junior heavyweight
02:57The perfect singles record that he had for so so long
03:01Finally losing to Will Ospreay
03:04In the best of the junior finals
03:06As a heavyweight
03:08Has been dominant
03:10His battles with Minoru Suzuki last year
03:13Have been a highlight of 2020
03:16And here he goes into
03:18The Tokyo Dome
03:22As the champion
03:23But he's got a huge
03:26Huge obstacle
03:27In Jeff Cobb
03:29Because Jeff Cobb right now
03:31Is money
03:32He's in the best shape that he's been
03:34In the years
03:36And he's focused
03:37He's centered
03:39And he wants one thing
03:40That never open weight champion
03:43And the one thing that Shingo has never done
03:45Is to beat Jeff Cobb
03:49Jeff Cobb has beaten Shingo Takagi
03:51In back-to-back G1s
03:54And Cobb also victorious
03:57Over Shingo Takagi
03:58In the three-way finals
03:59Of PWG's BOLA
04:02Back in 2018
04:05But there is no better time
04:06Than to start a new streak
04:08Than a new year
04:09And on the big stage
04:11Of Tokyo Dome
04:12Haku Koro
04:13Haku Koro
04:14The 31 champion
04:16Los Ingo
04:17Now plus the Hapon
04:18Dab Drago
04:20Takagi
04:22Shingo
04:22Chris do you get the feeling
04:23That Shingo draws power
04:25From all that he has faced
04:26From his opponents
04:27In these defenses
04:29Of the never open weight title
04:30Exactly what he said
04:32On NJPW1972.com
04:34He feels that this is
04:35God has given him a test
04:38In the form of Jeff Cobb
04:39Of a man on every parameter
04:42On paper
04:43Jeff Cobb dominates
04:45Shingo Takagi
04:46But this is a test
04:47Of Shingo Takagi's will
04:49And that dragon spirit
04:50That fighting spirit
04:51And Shingo promises
04:53To overcome
04:55The 31st never open weight champion
04:57In his first defense
04:59Here tonight
05:00Out of 30 prior champions
05:0214 reigns have ended
05:04At V0
05:08And 6
05:09Title changes
05:10Here in the Tokyo Dome
05:11In the last 6 years
05:12So the bell sounds
05:14At the never open weight championship
05:15Title match
05:16Is underway
05:25Dan's excited for this one
05:27Yeah
05:29And a good strong
05:31Collar and elbow tie up
05:32And Jeff Cobb
05:33Pushing Shingo back
06:03And the
06:04C'est parti !
06:34Oh, my God !
06:36Oh !
06:39When Shingo was in the junior heavyweight division,
06:41he was the one, he was the power.
06:43He was the one sending his opponents,
06:45and look at this, Cobb, my God !
06:47Oh, my God !
06:48That's exactly what I said on every parameter,
06:51it isn't just power,
06:52it's the athleticism of Jeff Cobb,
06:54the fact that he can fly, he can outfly Shingo as well.
07:01Former Olympian, competed for Guam.
07:03Yes, he did.
07:05In the very same year,
07:072004, that Shingo Takagi made his professional debut.
07:12Same age for both these athletes as well,
07:16they're very, very evenly matched.
07:20Oh, man.
07:22I'll tell you what, you can tell Cobb
07:24didn't play it out here tonight, folks.
07:30Come in, Jeff.
07:31Come in.
07:33And watch out, watch out.
07:34Here comes Shingo, right in front of us.
07:37No, no, no, no.
07:39Come in, Jeff.
07:43Oh, monstrous chop.
07:46Watch out, got a target in mind,
07:47all the way across the ring.
07:49No, no, go back and away.
07:52Jesus.
07:52No, watch this, pop the hips and watch it.
07:55Jesus.
08:01What an impressive belly to belly, suplex.
08:05Oh, another look and watch the height and the distance that Shingo covers.
08:12Jeff Cobbs.
08:17We saw with Okada and Osprey last night,
08:20that's a thin mat on a very, very hard wooden platform that Shingo Takagi
08:26just landed on right on the face of his neck.
08:39Oh, Shingo's gasping for breath.
08:41Obviously had the wind knocked out of him when he hit that deck.
09:02Wow.
09:04Drives that elbow.
09:06Presses him down.
09:07Keep him there.
09:08Try it again.
09:12The extra attitude, the extra oomph that you see in Cobb put into everything
09:18is exactly what he needs to do against someone like Shingo Takagi.
09:25He's looking great right now.
09:27Yeah.
09:28He is controlling a man that has made quite a resume for himself in being the one in control.
09:38A concussive effect on the ears and now Shingo had thoughts of a suplex.
09:46But the back not able to deliver.
09:49Jeff Cobb delivers with one of his own.
09:57Again, you can tell that Cobb is singularly focused on winning this championship time and time again,
10:04putting Shingo's shoulders down, trying to pin him.
10:08And when you think about the high caliber athlete that Jeff Cobb is,
10:13and all the training that it took to get to the Olympics.
10:17I mean, that's scary with that kind of laser focus for a guy like that,
10:21who's this talented.
10:27Stops him in his tracks.
10:29Ooh.
10:30One left.
10:32Plyukov did a floor, Jeff Cobb.
10:35And now Cobb.
10:37He's taking Shingo away.
10:39Catches inside headlock, refused to go down.
10:41Yeah, Cobb holding on.
10:44Oh!
10:45That was awesome.
10:47Had to use the ropes to get that momentum, but was executed perfectly.
10:54What beautiful timing from Shingo.
10:58Shingo's admitted that Jeff Cobb has 20 kilos on him, but he said,
11:02if I can throw Jeff Cobb, that's 20 kilos more force he'll hit the mat with.
11:08Or perhaps, goodness, that was the apron or the floor in just a few seconds.
11:13Things getting dangerous.
11:16Death Valley driver out here on the apron.
11:22Oh, instead Cobb shoves him away, comes forward, gets stopped.
11:27Oh, clubbed him.
11:30Oh, clubbed him.
11:32Shingo's still in a dangerous position.
11:35Oh, man.
11:37Oh, no.
11:38Oh, no.
11:39No way.
11:40No way.
11:40That is a scary place to be.
11:43That's a long way down.
11:45Oh, God.
11:45Oh, God.
11:47Jeff.
11:48Come on.
11:49Oh.
11:50Shingo able to get down.
11:52Oh.
11:53And now Shingo on his horse.
11:55Oh.
12:01Oh, I said, I thought Jeff Cobb would outplay Shingo Togaki.
12:07I might be wrong.
12:08We'll take another look.
12:10Oh, but you see Shingo came down on that back pretty, pretty hard.
12:16Oh, yeah.
12:18That was a rough landing.
12:19And immediately clutching his hip.
12:25Again, that ramp play is the same wood that holds up the ring.
12:30We talked about the density of that wood last night.
12:33And that's what Shingo landed on.
12:40But the high risk paid off.
12:42But now can it propel him to victory?
12:47Great explosion, this.
12:51Shingo now going up top.
12:53Passed down by Kenichiro Tenyu.
12:56The dragon elbow to the heart of Jeff Cobb.
12:59Two.
13:02And following up with a near fall.
13:08See in the corner of the screen, the hashtag tonight.
13:11WK15 day two already a top trend on Twitter because everybody's buzzing about this match right now.
13:21Noshigami coming up.
13:22Perhaps.
13:24How much is he going to be able to use his back?
13:28Ooh, that's a big ass though for that move.
13:36Shingo gets the boots up, comes forward, caught.
13:40Spin cycle.
13:41Whoa!
13:51Kota Ibushi was asked about wrestling Jeff Cobb.
13:54He says it almost feels like a roller coaster ride at first, like a fun fair, a thrill ride.
14:00It's exciting until you hit the ground, then you realize how much pain you're in.
14:07And now there's, I mean the smiling Hawaiian days are over for Kyle.
14:13He is business.
14:15Look at this though.
14:17Gut wrench, suplex, maintains waist control.
14:22He's hit two.
14:26And Shingo's back has been the target.
14:31Wow.
14:32Oh, how about that?
14:39Cobb slowed by that one, no doubt.
14:40Now another attempt for the Noshigami.
14:43Yeah!
14:46Oh, Jeff Cobb style, maybe.
14:51Extending the arms.
14:56Modified black tiger bob.
14:58Oh!
15:05Another look, Rocky.
15:08My...
15:08God!
15:14Shingo is a solid, solid dude.
15:17The way that Jeff Cobb is throwing him around like nothing is...
15:23Uncathomable.
15:24Oh, here we go.
15:25Through the islands.
15:27No.
15:34Hang on, up on the shoulders.
15:37Death Valley Driver almost out of nowhere for Shingo.
15:46This is one hell of a physical battle for the Never Openweight Championship.
15:50Shingo Takagi defending against Jeff Cobb.
15:53Wolfmen are down.
15:58Okay, Jeff, come on!
15:59Go, go, go!
16:01Come on!
16:02Oi!
16:03Oi!
16:05Oi!
16:06Oi!
16:07Oi!
16:08Oi!
16:09Come on, Jeff!
16:10Summoning the will of the people.
16:13The spirit burning inside Shingo Takagi.
16:16To over, come Jeff Cobb.
16:27And now, putting Cobb on the top rope looking for a superplex here.
16:33Again, how much is left on that back?
16:36Come on!
16:37So much weight to get over!
16:39Oh my God!
16:41Come on!
16:42Come on!
16:43Come on!

17:35avec la première défense de l'Evole-O-8.
17:37Il est arrivé à la seconde.
17:39C'est un counter.
17:42T-bone suplex.
17:44Non, non, non !
17:47Oh !
17:48Oh !
17:48Oh, mon Dieu !
17:50Allons-y !
17:56Chaz ! Chaz !

18:01F***-y, Chaz-y !
18:02Come on !
18:13Wow, these guys are not letting up.
18:22The wear and tear of this battle.
18:25Showing the effects, both men.
18:30Come on, James !
18:34Come on, James !
18:37Come on, James !
18:37Come on, Shinko !
18:38Oh, there's a straight, right answer from Shinko Takagi.
18:42Oh !
18:43Oh !
18:45Just a luck, just a luck !
18:47Oh ! German suplex !
18:49And Takagi's out !
18:51Oh !
18:52Oh !
18:53And if Shinko Takagi had thoughts of covering Jeff Cobb,
18:57he couldn't do it !
19:03This is a big boy battle.
19:05That's right, over the Never Openweight title.
19:07It's exactly what this title represents.
19:10Never give up, never surrender, never say die, never quit, never back down.

26:15Up on the shoulders !
26:17Blast !
26:18The dragon !
26:22Wow !
26:26Il n'est pas encore plus le champion, Shinkou!
26:34Liger, la même réaction à nous, il est juste applaudi.
26:40Man!
26:41Il est comme le Brody de cette génération.
26:49Steavored, non voilà.
26:50L'année dernière, Kota Ibushi s'il l'enfermule, il a
26:53m'as perdu en vraiment.
27:58matchmakers,
27:59si je peux avoir
28:00une sorte de relation
28:02avec lesquelles
28:02avec eux,
28:03je veux voir un rematch
28:07entre ces deux
28:10sooner
28:12ou sooner.
28:13Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
28:15I love it.
28:15Oh, my God.
28:18Man, this division
28:19has so much potential.
28:21You talked about
28:22New Japan strong earlier.
28:24Imagine Brody King
28:26versus Ka.
28:27Brody King
28:28versus Shingo Takagi.
28:29I mean, oh, man,
28:31that was awesome.
28:37And for Jeff Cobb,
28:40who sacrificed everything
28:42to win back this championship
28:44that escaped from his grasp
28:46far too soon.
28:49It was not in vain.
28:51And Jeff Cobb
28:53can take solace
28:54in the fact
28:54that he gave
28:55every single
28:56ounce of energy
28:57that he had
28:58and still wants more.
29:03But Shingo Takagi
29:04on this night,
29:06on January 5th, 2021,
29:08was the better man.
29:10But if they meet again,
29:13the result could be
29:14completely different.
29:15and Rocky,
29:15the match really changed
29:17on one pivotal moment.
29:19Yeah, when Shingo,
29:21out of desperation,
29:22decided to go after
29:23the knee of Cobb
29:24out of nowhere,
29:26completely threw Cobb's game off.
29:30Cobb,
29:31he even hit the, uh,
29:33Tour of the Islands.
29:34Tour of the Islands.
29:35was about to
29:37take the win,
29:39the W.
29:40And the knee collapsed
29:41and not only that,
29:42Shingo had his foot
29:43on the rope
29:44the first time.
29:45You know, just,
29:46it was,
29:47one of those things.
29:48It was a rough landing.
29:52Shingo knows
29:53how close he came
29:54to losing that title.
29:56Well, I talked about,
29:58you know,
29:59kind of the personal
30:00disappointment for me.
30:01Cobb and I were friends
30:02and, you know,
30:03a frequent dining companion
30:05and now, you know,
30:07of course those days
30:07are in the past.
30:11But I would say
30:13it was worth it.
30:14For matches like that,
30:16for efforts like that,
30:17it was worth it.
30:18Shingo Takagi, though,
30:19is an awesome
30:20never-open-weight champion.
