Abbaye St. Benoit Du Lac was founded in 1912, when Monastic settlements were established in Québec's Eastern Townships by monks who had been expelled from France.
Today, visitors are welcome to meet the monks and participate in the recitation of Gregorian chants -- many of which were composed prior to 1000 A.D.
