00:00Is the Bible actually just Greek mythology, but with one God?
00:04At first glance, it looks similar.
00:07Greek myths have a creation story, a great flood,
00:11heroes with superhuman strength, and gods interfering in human life.
00:15The Bible has all of that too.
00:18In literature class, mythology just means sacred stories
00:22that explain where we came from and how we should live.
00:25In that sense, scholars do classify parts of the Bible as mythology.
00:29But the structure is completely different.
00:33Greek myths have many gods who lie, fight, and betray each other.
00:37Time goes in circles.
00:39The Bible has one God who is all-powerful,
00:42and time moves in a straight line from creation to judgment.
00:47And the Bible isn't just stories.
00:49It's law codes, poetry, personal letters,
00:52and history that claims to name real places, real kings, and real eyewitnesses.
00:58So, is it mythology?
01:00If you're in a mythology class, yes.
01:03If you're asking about faith, for billions of people,
01:06it's not mythology at all.
01:08It's revelation.
