संपूर्ण गन्ना बकाया भुगतान कराए जाने और शामली चीनी मिल के गन्ना खरीद केंद्र दूसरी चीनी मिलों को आवंटित कराए जाने की मांग को लेकर किसानों का उत्तर प्रदेश में ज़िला शामली के सहकारी गन्ना समिति में 22 अगस्त 2023 से अनिश्चितकालीन धरना प्रदर्शन शुरू कर दिया। किसानों का कहना हैं कि इस सरकार में किसानों की सुनवाई नहीं हो रही हैं। जब तक हमारी माँगे पूरी नहीं होगी जब तक हम यहाँ से नहीं जाने वाले हैं।

Starting from August 22, 2023, farmers in the cooperative sugarcane committee of Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, have initiated an indefinite protest. They demand the complete settlement of pending sugarcane payments and the equitable allocation of sugarcane to Shamli Sugar Mill and other mills. Farmers assert that their grievances are not being addressed by the current government. They vow to stay put until their demands are met.
