00:05He was bad for Ohio, and I don't think we should give him another chance.
00:08And Amy Acton, it's just, it's almost too easy.
00:11The person who more than any other shut down our schools during COVID,
00:15made it impossible for kids to get a good education,
00:17and really has no idea what she wants to do for the people of Ohio,
00:21let's elect Vivek, John Husted, and of course, J. Edwards.
00:25They're great people. They'll make great public servants.
00:27So Vice President, you have talked a lot about your Christian faith in recent days.
00:33How does that mesh with the Pentagon's announcement that they wish to live stream
00:38the firing squad execution of the Fort Hood shooting?
00:42Well, first of all, I've seen these announcements.
00:44I don't know that that's actually going to happen.
00:46Let's sort of see what, I think it's going to happen in December when he's executed.
00:50But what I try to remind people is, look, this is a guy who committed, in my view,
00:54the worst terrorist attack on American soil outside of 9-11.
00:58The people that he was meant to treat, the Army soldiers that he was meant to treat
01:02for mental illness and other problems, he took them at their most vulnerable
01:06and gunned down these people where they lived.
01:09So whatever the controversy is about the method of the execution,
01:12I hope that people don't forget that this is a guy who brutally murdered a lot of innocent people.
01:17Now, that said, I mean, look, if it's ultimately live streamed, I'm not going to be watching it.
01:22Mr. Vice President.
01:23Voter questions.
01:24Data centers.
01:25One under construction, another still being discussed in Trenton.
01:28Just 10 minutes from where you grew up.
01:31Yeah.
01:31You know that area well.
01:31I know very well.
01:32You said you support these facilities but want to make sure they don't increase electricity costs for everyone.
01:38Question.
01:38How can these massive projects help boost the economies of small towns?
01:41Well, they've got to help boost the economies of the small towns because the companies that are building have to
01:46actually make the commitment to do so.
01:48If you're building a data center and you're actually tapping into the existing power grid, you're making energy costs go
01:53up,
01:53you shouldn't be building that data center.
01:55This is one of the reasons why the president has been such a leader on the ratepayer protection pledge.
01:59He's basically said, if you're going to go into these places, you should actually be providing power back into the
02:04electricity grid.
02:05You should be providing good construction jobs.
02:07And I fundamentally think that dynamic, that conversation is going to have to exist between the local communities and the
02:14data centers.
02:14If you look at certain places, like, for example, in Louisiana, there's a 5 gigawatt Louisiana.
02:20There's a 5 gigawatt data center that's going in.
02:22The people who are building the data center are giving every teacher on the ground a $50,000 bonus,
02:28and they're feeding power back into the electricity grid.
02:30That's how you make these things a win-win for the community.
02:33So data centers can be good.
02:35They can be bad.
02:36It's up to the local communities and the data centers to make sure they come to an accommodation that's good
02:41for our citizens.
02:42The president thinks that's possible.
02:43It's just going to require a lot of work for the people on the ground who are actually building these
02:48data centers.
02:48But, look, I'm optimistic.
02:50I do think that we're going to figure this out.
02:51We're going to make these things an economic engine for the American people.
02:54But it's going to require them to be respectful of the local communities
02:58and to make sure they're putting power back into the grid, not taking it out.
03:01Mr. Vice President, a question about this.
03:03Yeah.
03:03A local, a prominent donor, Eric Dieters, has accused the administration of, like, a quid pro quo,
03:09saying that Kimberly Guilfoyle asked him to pay off a $100,000 credit card debt for access to Trump administration
03:18officials.
03:19Do you have a reaction to that?
03:21And is that how the administration works?
03:23Well, certainly not, man.
03:24Look, these are allegations.
03:25And what I always say is we don't try people in the court of public opinion.
03:28We try people in a court of law.
03:30I've seen that Eric Dieters has accused Kimberly Guilfoyle, who I know and have known for a long time.
03:36Look, these are accusations.
03:38You don't take messages that people allegedly had between one person or another or one person's story and say,
03:45oh, because of that, Kimberly Guilfoyle is guilty.
03:48I think that's absurd.
03:49Let's actually see what the facts are.
03:51Let's see what the truth is.
03:52And obviously, if there was something bad that happened, then people have to suffer consequences for it.
03:56Mr. President, the question about affordability here.
03:58How important is it to you to win the state of Ohio for a couple of days as you come
04:03to a 2028-round bill?
04:05Well, look, I think it has nothing to do with 2028.
04:09It has to do with how we're going to govern our country over the next two years, the next 10
04:12years.
04:13I mean, you know, John Huston hopefully will be a senator for a very long time, not just in 2028
04:18but beyond.
04:19And, look, I do worry that if we elect a bunch of radicals, the country is going to take a
04:25massive, massive step backwards.
04:27If you look all across the country, Democrats could have responded to Donald Trump's landslide win in 2024 by saying,
04:33you know what, we're going to moderate a little bit.
04:35We're not going to try to force women to play or men to play in women's sports.
04:39We're not going to try to force boys into the locker rooms with girls.
04:42We're going to maybe try to build some common-sense economic policies that promote prosperity.
04:47Instead, what they've done is they've doubled down on cheap labor, they've doubled down on open borders,
04:51and they've doubled down on men and women's sports.
04:54That's not how you appeal to people, but it's certainly not how you govern a country.
04:57So I want Democrats to lose, and I want John Huston and Vivek to win,
05:00because I think it will be good for the people of Ohio and good for the people of the United
05:04States of America.
05:05Mr. Vice President.
05:06Actually, we'll do him first and then you.
05:08Affordability is a huge topic right now in this election.
05:10Grocery prices are up 2.2 percent from last year.
05:14What do you tell Ohioans and across the country, really, when it comes to affordability?
05:18Why should they stick with the Republicans with these close races right now?
05:22Well, what I tell Ohioans is, look, we know that people are worried about affordability,
05:26and it's something that we are laser-focused on fixing every single day.
05:29I also, you know, I try to level with people and be honest that we inherited the worst inflation.
05:34I thought that was somebody's head.
05:38I mean, I just knocked somebody in the head.
05:40Look, it's just a microphone.
05:41No worries.
05:43But what I always try to people is that Rome wasn't built in a day.
05:46What you've seen the president able to do is $19 trillion in new investment in the United States of America.
05:51We are re-industrializing.
05:53We're seeing a major manufacturing boom in the United States of America.
05:56But it takes time to build those factories.
05:58It takes time for people to be in those jobs.
06:00We're actually getting those dignified wages and building a product that we're all proud of.
06:04So what I'd say is we've made a lot of progress.
06:07Things are certainly – inflation is way lower today than it was when we took office.
06:11It's way lower today than at the peak of the Biden administration.
06:14But there's still a lot of work to do.
06:15And what I'd ask the American people, the people of Ohio, is do you want to double down on the
06:20policies that have the ship moving in the right direction?
06:22Or do you want to go back to the policies that had the worst inflation crisis in 50 years in
06:27the United States of America?
06:28I think the choice is obvious, but obviously it's up to the voters to make that decision.
06:31Go ahead.
06:32Look, I think that is the thing that is the most important about this election.
06:33You talked a lot about the re-industrialization of the United States.
06:36The Trump administration has added more than 70,000 manufacturing jobs in the last year, more than 100,000 construction
06:42jobs.
06:42The S&P flash composite says the business activity is at the fastest growth rate in the last five years.
06:48If voters re-elect Republicans, Republicans control the House and the Senate, how much better can you continue this trajectory
06:55that you've already set the country on from a re-industrialization perspective?
06:59Look, I think that is the thing that is the most important about this election.
07:02Because if we don't continue to re-industrialize the country, all the incredible advantages that we've seen over the last
07:08couple of years, they can disappear and even go in the other direction.
07:12$19 trillion in new investment, that's thousands and thousands of new companies, new factories, new jobs.
07:19All of that can go away if we elect a bunch of communists who want to make it easier to
07:23ship American jobs overseas.
07:25You know, one other point I'll make about this is part of the reason I care so much about re
07:29-industrialization is because I care about American jobs.
07:32If you work hard, if you play by the rules, you ought to be able to support a family, you
07:36ought to be able to buy a home, you ought to be able to take your kids on a nice
07:39vacation.
07:39That is, to me, the essence of the American dream.
07:42You have a good life in this country so long as you're willing to work for it.
07:46But you already see in an announcement that we made yesterday where we're trying to make it harder for major
07:51corporations to undercut the wages of American workers and bring in indentured servants to replace American jobs.
07:58You see Democrats aggressively saying, no, no, no, no, we want to continue to allow corporations to bring in indentured
08:05servants from overseas to undercut the wages of Americans.
08:08That is absurd.
08:10We fight for American workers.
08:12We fight for their jobs.
08:13We fight for their wages.
08:14We fight for their dignity.
08:15That's our job as an American government and an American president and vice president.
08:20We're going to keep on doing it, but we'd love to have some help from our congressional allies.
08:23Thank you, guys.
08:24See you.
08:24Yes, President.
08:25Okay, guys.
08:25You got to back up.
08:26Get a shot at the plane, okay?
08:29Get him going up.
08:44Okay, great job, guys.
08:46Bye, bye.
08:47Bye, bye, bye.
